5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent early Lowell, October 8, 2003

This review is from: Black Widow Spider Blues (Audio CD)
This is a typical Catfish release: the packaging is attractive, the tracks are many (25), and the sound is good. The downsides are also typical: the liner notes focus on the biography of the subject, not the recording of the songs. There is only sketchy info about the songs--minimal personnel; years but no dates; and absolutely no info about original labels.

Still, this collection of Lowell's early recording efforts--in the late '40s--is a welcome reissue. And there are at least one bona fide classics: Three O'Clock Blues, later covered by BB King for his first hit.
