3.0 out of 5 stars From a different perspective indeed!
Its too bad this couldn't have been written before the Chronicles. This book made Khisanth out to be a much worthier opponent for the Companions than the Chronicles did.

As it is, this was still a great book. Once again, the Dragonlance saga proves its ok to like the bad guys.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, January 5, 2000

This review is from: The Black Wing (Dragonlance: Villains, Book 2) (Paperback)
This was one of the first Dragonlance books that I read and, ultimately, my favorite. By far, Khisanth is the most memorable "evil" character and, quite honestly, the most interesting. The only thing that bothers me is her ultimate (and unfortunate) fate at the hands of the heroes in the Dragon Series. I think it's rather unsportsmanlike to make us like a character in one book, only to dispose of her in another. It's too bad there can't be more adventures with Khisanth the dragon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, July 14, 1998
This review is from: The Black Wing (Dragonlance: Villains, Book 2) (Paperback)
This is a Book that not only stand out in my mind above The Dragonlance books. but this book stands out above every book i have ever read. It's great and goes in depth at a Dragon's life. Another Reason this is a good book...is because (unlike other Dragonlance Novels) this doesnt need to be read before or after any other novel no particular order or anything...this is a Great Book and i suggest you buy it.

The life story of Khisanth, the black dragon who attacked the companions in Xak Tsaroth in the novel "Dragon of Autumn Twilight," is an excellent book that is a must read for any DL fan. This was an excellent book and anyone could read over and over. I highly suggest this book to ANY Dragonlance reader. ALL HAIL TAKHISIS!

4.0 out of 5 stars Why give your favorite book a seven?, May 17, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Black Wing (Dragonlance: Villains, Book 2) (Paperback)
I've read quite a few Dragonlance books, and Mary Kirchoff is my favorite writer. I mean no offense to any other Dragonlance writer, I think you're all great. And of course, no disrespect toward and other writer. I mean where would we be without writers? Just lots of huge collections of blank pages. Where was I? Oh, yeah. The Black Wing is, in my opinion, the best book so far (unless I finish Dragons of Summer Flame and decide it was better). It takes a detailed look at how a black dragon thinks, what its priorities are, that sort of thing. The book had enough detail, but wasn't at all slow moving (ever read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn?). So after this review, why give it a seven? Think about it; if I had given it a ten, you prob'ly would've skipped right over it, thinking I was "just another Dragonlance fanatic". Well Guess What! I am! You will be assimilated! Resistance is futile! MWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Peek at the Inner Dragon, May 30, 2008

This review is from: The Black Wing (Dragonlance: Villains, Book 2) (Paperback)
Something intriguing about getting inside a dragon's head - a black dragon's head at that. The book was engaging from beginning to end, dragons being what they are, one that wonders why the mighty dragon race needs humans for anything. While this dragon dabbles with humans, she ultimately finds them lacking, which lands her in hot water with Takhisis more than once. One of the better novels I read recently, one I'd surely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars good book, June 29, 2006
This review is from: The Black Wing (Dragonlance: Villains, Book 2) (Paperback)
This book happened to be my introduction to the Dragonlance setting.
I've always enjoyed a story that takes the 'bad guy' point of view and Khisanth is easilly one of my favorite characters in all of Krynn's history; right alongside Heart, Aurora, Kang, and Fizban (to name just a few, in no particular order).
Kirchoff writes an intriguing story that is truly worthy of being part of Weis and Hickman's world.
It's an inspirational piece of work and must read for any Dragonlance fan.

This review is from: The Black Wing (Dragonlance: Villains, Book 2) (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book, I especially liked the little quirks, like the faries, qhen, and the temporary "plane" relocation, I have read all but two of the Dragonlance books and this is in the top 5

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, July 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Black Wing (Dragonlance: Villains, Book 2) (Paperback)
While in most fantasy novels the dragon is nothing but an unimportant plot device, in this book, she is the main character, and as well-developed as any knight or damsel. She has emotions and hardships (some of which are amusing), and sometimes one can well nigh forget that she is an evil being, especially when she shows concern for her dead friends. Khisanth (the dragon) also seems to mature through the novel, going through a series of eye-popping adventures and meeting various beings along the way. My only complaint is a dull chapter about a knight that Khisanth encountered while in her human form saving his villiage, which adds nothing to the story. One of my favorites. Highly recommended to dragon fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!, July 8, 1999

This review is from: The Black Wing (Dragonlance: Villains, Book 2) (Paperback)
This book is just flat awesome. Let's face it, who ever thought they would root for an evil, betraying, nasty, black dragon that tries to kill the Heroes of the Lance? But I did and I did it big. This dragon is just flat awesome. The best part has got to be the conflict between Khinsanth and the Knight. It is the typical good vs. evil deal, except that the Knight is the only human that Khinsanth respects and she has to kill him. Beautiful storyline.
