3.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Disappointed
I a relative and descendent to Sarah Parker Remond am truly disappointed in the information listed. 3.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Disappointed, February 27, 2011
I a relative and descendent to Sarah Parker Remond am truly disappointed in the information listed. Still researching my family history cannot begin to tell you how I was utterly dumbfounded when I read she was primarily self-taught. Actually, she was educated formally, yet her family abolitionists and outspoken business owners in protest left their lucrative business and moved to RI where segregation was not the case and she was educated their until the laws where changed in Massachusetts, where she was born.
She later was educated in Italy and received a degree to become a medical doctor. Yes, you are correct she married and never returned.

3.0 out of 5 stars Black Womenin America: An Historical Encyclopedia, July 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The encyclopedia is filled with information that some is valid, while some information is not valid. Upon further research I discovered discrepancies - irritating. I bought the encyclopedia for a condense version of information, but ended using to many other sources to validate the outcomes.

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Phenominal Find . . ., November 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had acquired years ago, as a gift the first HB volume of this set and wanted to locate the second. Upon locating this I never thought it would be in such mint condition . . . New it was, for the best price ever! I just love this item and since it is HB, I can share with so many others, without it becoming frayed or worn too easily. Thanks(book seller)for such a great find!
