BlackBerry Bluetooth Headset - Black - Bulk Packaging

I have used just about every major brand Bluetooth headsets. Comparatively, this headset stands somewhere in the middle of the crowd.
Pros:
1) Light weight and comfortable to wear. I love the soft gel type ear-tip. I wear it whole day for close to 12 hours and can honestly say that at times I don't even realize that I am wearing a Bluetooth headset. (However, this "light weight" leads in to a short-coming as we shall see later).
2) Easy to charge unlike my other Plantronics Discovery/Explorer headsets (that I have purchased over the last 2 years to last 2 months range). Plantronics headset button-type charger mechanism is very fragile. Gentle touch is sufficient enough to stop these headsets from charging and requires some "playing around" to get charging process going again. However, this BlackBerry HS-655+ uses a mini-USB, type B connector. As a result, charger plug establishes a solid, reliable connection, that is not prone to such contact problems. Once you connect charger cable to the charging cradle, just insert your headset properly and forget about it. Contact problems are virtually non-existent in this headset/cradle combination.
3) Stylish, matches my Blackberry.
4) Sound quality is extremely good on both ends (though doesn't even come close to my Jabra BT5010 or Nokia Bluetooth headsets).
5) Volume level is loud enough for most occasions and purposes.
6) If your phone supports it, you will get notifications of incoming emails, text messages etc. via this Bluetooth headset, when paired successfully with your phone.
7) Pairing was a snap. It successfully pairs with my 2 phones (Samsung and BlackBerry) every time.
8) Quick connect and disconnect (unlike my Motorola and Jabra bluetooth headsets).
9) Supports call mute, last number redial and voice dial feature. However, voice dial feature never worked with my phones. (Jabra BT5010 works like a charm when it comes to voice dial).
10) Easy to carry around with charging cradle that doubles as a shirt clip-on carry case for this headset.

Cons:
1) Dismal battery life. Battery needs to be charged every day, invariably. Even with modest use (say 80-100 minutes talk time everyday and rest in standby mode), you will end up charging it every day.
2) Voice dial feature may/may not work.
3) Power/Call connect/Disconnect button is somewhat hard to press, especially when you are wearing this headset.
4) In order to change the Right ear to Left ear configuration (or vice versa), you have to physically remove the soft gel ear tip, then remove the ear hook, then install them accordingly in the reverse order. Little tedious, not a big deal, but I guess I got used to Plantronics Discovery headsets (swiveling pivot type mechanism), where this interchange is addressed smoothly.

Overall, it is a mixed bag when you own this headset. However, if you are getting it for (almost) free after MIR, you won't be sorry with your purchase.

Purchased for my wife - her first Bluetooth device. Even though it carries Blacberry brand it is made by Plantronics and since I like my Plantronics took advantage of great pricing and a rebate to purchase this one. I figured if she didn't like it or didn't work with her phone I'd use it with my Blackberry and giver her mine.
Actually she really likes it a lot. Picking the correct ear piece and using the loop made it quite comfortable for her. Pairing it was easy and she's gotten the hang of using it quickly. Voice calling works well for her and it was easy to set up.
She says she can hear the other side of the conversation quite well and when I call her I can hear her outgoing voice quite well also. What more could one ask for in a headset?

Doesn't work as well as it should, poor audio quality, hard to push buttons, not comfortable to use. I don't recommend it.

Both my wife and I enjoy using this device ( my BBold, her Nokia ).
Suggestion #1: I wish I could purchase those ear gel buds separately because I already broke two of the paper thin clips that locks the ear gel buds onto the headset.
The ability to purchase those buds would be great.

#2: Blue tooth link could be stronger...a mere few feet away from my Blackberry and it threatens to disconnect. If no safety issues abound then I would want a stronger Berry B-tooth headset connection.


Ultimately, I do really enjoy this headset by Plantronics for Blackberry.Its comfortable,its sound is very good and its idiot proof to sync with the Blackberry.
I love the carry charge case with its vibrating feature...super cool guys!!
The pocket clip says serious Business and first class...niiiiice touch.
Good job guys...work on those lil areas please.

If you work in a noisy place forget about it, this is not it, the sound quality is not that great keeps breaking up or they cant hear you. The name brand does not mean quality.

I purchased this Bluetooth to go with my Blackberry. I figured when you use the same manufacturer you can't go wrong. The device connects up very easily. The only thing I didn't really like about this headset is the distance that you can use the headset from the handset. If you get more than about 10 feet from it or if you bend down it will get major static. The headset works fine in the car as long as my phone is not in my pocket.

Great service, rapid delivery, exactly as ordered. However, I was unable to get it to work with my Blackberry, so I returned the item. Again, quick refund. However, the refund was NOT to my Amazon account but turned into a credit at the supplier.

Had to get a bluetooth, because I was sick of trying to talk on the phone and work the computer keyboard with just one hand.

It works good, the sound is clear on my end, and I am told it sounds good by my callers.

Very lightweight, so I don't use the clip, just stick the rubbery earpiece in, twist it a little, and it's fairly stable. So light, that every once in a while I forget it's there -- when the other phone rings I pick it up and CLUNK -- oh, put it to the other ear!

Range-wise, it's not that good, when I get more than three to four feet away from the phone, the sound starts getting grungy. But bluetooth is not supposed to be a longrange thing anyway.

Overall -- good value. I recommend it.

Oh, yes, the packaging is pretty nice -- a velvety black bag with a drawstring. It also comes with a spare set of earplugs, a handsome pocket-clip type holder (which the chargers plug into), a wall-socket charger, and a cigarette-lighter socket charger.

I like the product works well. I can always here conversations well and so can those I talk too. The battery life seems good but this is the first headset I've ever owned. The 3 sizes of earpiece are good too. It does have a couple of issues hence the lack of a 5th star. The ear-piece and ear-hook can easily come of while being carried around in a pocket etc which means annoying routing around and re-assembly. It would have been nice to have a small case to keep it in for exactly that purpose. It can also have a tendency to pick-up a lot of wind noise while outside in really open areas. It doesn't come with any sort of decent instructions and you have to download the set from the plantronics website for the identical plantronics branded version. All in all though its a good product and does what it says on the tin.

Muffled, static-y sounding, earbud kept popping off - especially if I tried to use the earhook as well. Sent it back.
