I've always been a bit of a techno-geek. Perhaps it stemmed back to when we purchased Pong (the original version back in the 70s). But when I got my new Blackberry, I was a bit intimidated and confused on how to use a smartphone. This book was very good at covering many topics that helped me along. I was disappointed by the fact that it didn't cover all the features of my Blackberry Curve 8350i, but it definitely helped me to get my Blackberry customized. I'm still learning to use it more efficiently, and hope that continued updates of this book will help others too.

I knew absolutely NOTHING about the BlackBerry when my daughter and son-in-law decided it was time to bring me into the 21st Century! With their tutoring, and this book, my early education is about at the 2nd grade level...I graduated kindergarten, but I am certainly NOT in high school yet. Lots to learn, and this book helps.

As a dummy user, when I ordered this book, I was expecting to receive something prepared to help a dummy user. This book is mainly written about BlackBerry 8500 (the older generation of Blackberry) and the features, pictures, and descriptions are for Model 8500, not Model 8900 which is the new one. It is true that the core engine of the software is the same, but, features and user interfaces are different. The author has compiled a lot of interesting information in this book, but they may be good for system developers or marketing people, not a guide for the users. For example, I tried to find something on how to set up BlackBerry ID Password and there was none. Without this information you cannot download any of the applications for use on BlackBerry. Instead there is a table of the abbreviations used in text messaging, such as LOL!

If you are looking for something to walk you down the system set up and operation, you shouldn't look here. Even if you consider the materials covered in this book is good, the organization and the presentation of this massive pile of information is not helpful. That's why a gave only one star, it was solely because of my expectaions, which may be different from others. Otherwise, the writing style is very clear and easy to follow.

Very helpful, in fact more info than I can put to good use. I have been able to do all the things I wanted to do on my BlackBerry even though I didn't have the owner's manual.

Very good instruction manual for using the Blackberry Curve. The book has enabled me to do more with my phone in a simple manner. I would recommend this book for people who want to get the most from their phone in simple steps.

I can only speak for myself, but a manual on an e-book is not a very handy thing. I need to flip pages in a manual and look at the drawings etc. and on the Kindle it was really difficult. I read quite a bit of the manual however, and I found it to be one of the type that assumes the reader will know the really basic things so they didn't even mention a lot of the questions that I had and I'm probably not alone in that.
I am so happy with my Kindle for just straight reading that the manual problem was unique in my comfort zone and I am only telling my experience in case it might help someone else with my need for flipping pages.

Very easy to use with clear explanations. Worth purchasing if you are a Blackberry user and want to be sure you are suing all of its applications
