I admit my knowledge of holsters is limited and was a bit overwhelmed at the choices and price ranges of them when I started doing some homework on them for my new Glock 23. This is my first handgun I have bought and figured a holster is a holster right? Wrong! I spent a good week reviewing different ones here and other websites and narrowed it down to this or the Fobus E2 Evolution Paddle Holster Glock 17 19 22 23 26 27 33 34 35 Md: GL2E2. The Blackhawk seemed to have a far better reputation being used by a large number of law enforcement and military personnel. I am not a Cop or in the military but am a major photographer so I do spend a lot of time hiking and what not. I need a holster that will keep my gun where I put it and not drop it yet allow me fast and easy access to it if and when I need it. When a bear or muse pops out of no where on you while your trying to set up the perfect angle to capture a sunset you do not have time to fiddle with stuff. I find the Blackhawk does this very well. I played with the Blackhawk here at a local Gun shop and was very impressed how easy it was to draw and re holster plus it seems very well made. I went ahead and decided to buy it and am very happy I did. So far I cant say anything bad about it yet. The shop did not have the Fobus to try out, but can not see where it could be any better than this holster and I for one am very happy to spend a few extra bucks or about twenty in this case to have something I know I can depend on. This is not to say you can't with Fobus, I really don't know, but I fully believe I can with my new Blackhawk and that makes me happy about my purchase. Hope this helps anyone trying to decide like I was.

Pros: Sturdy / Serpa Tech / fast draw & reholster / good looking

Cons: Too bulky with G19 / purely pastic built with a small piece of carbon fiber glued on surface of its front side / pricy compare to its almost identical variant at:

i found this holster to be pretty good keeping in mind that it should not be mistaken for a concealed holster as its a bit bulky...other than that its pretty good and easy to work with.

The product was as advertised. It is a secure holster for my Glock 9mm Handgun. I am a retired NYC Police Sergeant and rate this item as excellent.

Blackhawk's CQC Holster. It's a great holster, not much more to say other than that. Well, if you're looking for a concealment holster this is not for you. But if you want to take a 10 foot (plus) drop, running full speed, jumping over walls, and so on without your gun falling out. You might want to consider this holster. It keeps it nice and snug until you need it. Love the serpa tech on it. Very easy to draw and reholster.

I have had this holster for about a month now and cannot find any faults with it. Angle of the holster on the hip is achieved by changing the position of the 3 screws on the inside of the holster. Release of the weapon from the holster is quick and easy with a gentle press on the release mechanism and your index finger is automatically positioned on the trigger guard on draw.

I carried a Blackhawk CQC for the G23 for 12+ years. Very sturdy which is one reason I am not as pleased with this G42 holster. I use the belt loops and not the paddle. The loops are thinner and less sturdy than the ones on the G23 holster. The loop spacers, used to reduce the size of the loops for a smaller width belt are snap on plastic inserts which came off and were lost in the 1st 5 days of carry. Blackhawk is sending me replacements (free) and I shall glue these in place once I have them. The same loop spacers on my 12 yr old G23 model CQC were screwed on and never an issue. Other than that, seems to fit and carry well. Too bad that 'accounting practices' got involved in Blackhawk's design stages where the loops were lightened up and the spacers were cheapened up from sturdy screws to a simple snap in plastic inserts. Cost cutting measures that do affect the product.
