This review is from: BLACKHAWK! Canteen without Logo (Sports)
I have used this canteen since 2008 almost every single day, at home and away alike. I never use it for sports or soft drinks, just pure H20 mostly from the reverse osmosis filter. With only water it will just START to smell at 4 days to a week and it doesnt really intensify. No plastic taste. 2 of these canteens covers the 8 glasses a day thing if you follow that (I just stay hydrated, its alot simpler).
It has some flex to it, feels thin but Ive dropped it many times, filled with water, from all different angles(the cap has taken full impact), on concrete, down stairs, kicked after being dropped etc. Ive used the loop attached to the cap to carry it alot and it has not gotten weaker at all. The outside is very scratched at this point but its showing no signs of failing me. The inside is good as new.
I just bought the blue Nalgene Oasis canteen as a spare (only if I lost it or it gets eaten by a dog or run over by a truck, etc) and upon close inspection its construction seems identical to this one. Unless any of the above happens I dont see why I would have to use the spare for another 4 years or longer.
If it does have a con its the bottom of the cap which somewhat leaves the threads open to dirt. I have not had a problem with this but Id imagine someone mudding on a atv or military use might get some dirt in there if its left exposed (i.e. out of a pack).
To clean it I use dish soap followed by some baking powder with water to get the soap smell out. Sometimes I will use a q-tip on the threads around the neck and inside the cap to get out the little bit of grime that will build up. I dont use bleach in it because it leaves a slight smell and taste, which doesnt even resemble chlorine, for a week or so.

Works for a GI Style Canteen, December 3, 2010
Received this canteen in the green color and it feels great. On first inspection, the shell is pretty thin and can be flexed easily. So I'm not sure if this can take a significant impact. On the other hand, it is very light compared to the older and heavier style GI Canteens. Mine did not come stamped with Blackhawk on the front, but it has the mark on the bottom. The cap is solid and watertight, and I noticed it is easier to drink from than older models. The transparent plastic is also nice to see how much liquid you have left.
For those interested, this bottle is made by Nalgene which always has quality products. I went with the blackhawk version because the standard Nalgene canteens weren't in the colors I wanted. All in all a great canteen!

Military in a nalgene, January 2, 2012
This is the most amazing thing to own. I have been in the Army National Guard for over a year now, and I have always hated that they still give us vietnam-style water bottles while everything else has been updated. These are nice because they don't leak, they are see-through so I can see how much water is left and see if it needs cleaned, and it's made by nalgene so I know it will be tough. I like the fact that they sell one without labels so I don't have to worry about a strict officer telling me that my bottle won't do. I haven't put it up to a stress test, but if it is like the other nalgenes, you won't have an issue with this thing breaking.
