4.0 out of 5 stars "BlackStone: Magic & Steel"
Okay, so "BlackStone" isn't very original - it's a "Gauntlet" clone through and through. However, it's a darn fine "Gauntlet" clone, and fans of that game should rush out and grab a copy of this mindlessly addictive fantasy romp with little hesitation. It's all here - foes uncountable, monster spawners that must be destroyed, power-ups for collecting, gold for hoarding,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as fun as it could be
This game is a cheap gauntlet clone. The gameplay is extreamly linear. You have very little options on how to approach each level. The controls are not at all real time. The characters continue with their attacks seconds after you stop pressing the attack button. I wouldnt recomend this game to anyone.

Okay, so "BlackStone" isn't very original - it's a "Gauntlet" clone through and through. However, it's a darn fine "Gauntlet" clone, and fans of that game should rush out and grab a copy of this mindlessly addictive fantasy romp with little hesitation. It's all here - foes uncountable, monster spawners that must be destroyed, power-ups for collecting, gold for hoarding, and diverse fantasy locales that must be ransacked on your quest to rid the world of evil. Not that "BlackStone" employs any discernable plot (it's completely nonsensical in nature, actually), but since when does it have to? "Gauntlet" didn't have much of one, either! Despite the game's blatant similarities to the aforementioned classic, it does add some new features into the mix (dinosaurs and dragons your heroes can ride in a very "Golden Axe" sort of fashion, both melee and ranged combat moves, etc.). Despite these additions, it's not quite up to par with "Gauntlet: Dark Legacy" in pure addiction value, but it's not far from the mark either - especially if you have friends eager to play it beside you. The single player experience is decent, but let's face it, these games are truly for multiple players. Bottom line: If you like "Gauntlet," "BlackStone" is right up your alley.

This game is very similar to Gauntlet Dark Legacy. The graphics are better in "Stones" but the weaponry and the game organization is better in "Legacy". I have played "Legacy" through several times an enjoyed it much. To early in this game to see if I stay with it. Prima has yet to produce any assistance for Blackstones either.

This game wasn't what I expected. It is like gauntlet and I was expecting something a tad different. But over all I am happy because the game works and me and my friends can play it. :) I would buy from this seller again, just review the games a bit more before I buy them. But that wasn't the seller's fault.
