I've had one of these keyboards for about 6 months now. Overall I like it, but I keep switching back to my old keyboard in frustration.

Number One Complaint - the drivers are TERRIBLE. They only work marginally in mountain lion. I've complained to customer support numerous times about this, and while I have gotten responses, they've been somewhere between noncommittal and uninterested. If they would hire a real mac programmer for a few days they could probably come up with something that actually resembles a real mac driver, but currently the driver/support software is a crudely ported version of the windows version. Imagine this before buying - every time you restart your mac, the driver software (Razer Synapse, a stand-alone program - not in system preferences like every other driver) is going to pop up, download the current driver even if it hasn't changed since the last restart (and it hasn't changed since mountain lion came out) Then you have to manually close the driver software. If your keyboard isn't attached, like if you use it with a laptop, you're going to have to wait for this download process, and then dismiss the notice that No Keyboard Is Attached. This gets tedious really fast.

Regarding these emails concerning the lack of working drivers, at one point I was invited to like their facebook page where I could address this issue in public, maybe see if others were having the same problems. So I did, but guess what? Razer deletes any posts they consider non-promotional, no matter how politely you make them. Whenever I try to make a post concerning the lack of working drivers, I get 2 or 3 quick responses from others with the same problem, but then Razer deletes the posts.

I bought this keyboard last year, so I've been using it for about 6 months. I go through keyboards quickly, but I really wanted one with more reactive keys. This keyboard has definitely given me what I wanted in terms of improving my already fast typing speeds. It's a solid, heavy, seemingly well built keyboard. It has a long cord, plenty of function keys, etc.

None of the keys have been defective like the others complained about. Everything is in the correct place and it's held up well to my abuse. However, since day one, a few of the keys have been sticky. Certain keys just get stuck when pressed down and I have to pry them up. It doesn't happen often, but it didn't go away as I'd hoped. I'll probably replace this in another 6 months, and it won't be with another Black Widow.

Pros:
* Great keyboard with a great tactile response. (this is also a Con)
* It just feels great to type on.
* The software is relatively intuitive and easy to use. It allows for a lot of customization. (but as you will see below it comes at a price)

Cons:
* LOUD. Seriously I feel like I am in Finding Forester every time I type on this thing because I really have to "PUCH THE KEYS FOR GODS SAKE".
* Razor software needs a lot of work. It's loaded with bloatware and crashes frequently. It even randomly seems to reassign the keys. It takes up way more ram and processing power than a device made for gaming should.

My Original 1* review:

I ordered this because i had been using the old IBM - Lexmark keyboards for many years, and when I moved to a Mac, didn't like the feel of their keyboard. The feel of this board is great. I was also favorably impressed when I read the responses from Razer to some of the negative reviews - that indicated that there was some interest in customer support.

HOWEVER -

I am using OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2. When I called tech support about my issues, I was told that this is not yet supported.

The configuration panels are extremely hard to use - gray on black with a very small font size. They do not match the pictures in the Mac Master Guide that came with the product. (The color schemes on the web site are equally dismal with low contrast, but at least Cmd + magnifies them to where they are readable).

Many of the reviews here extolled its virtues as a programming keyboard - I am not at all a gamer (since SimCity and Adventure), but do a fair amount of programming and writing; a full keyboard with the 10 key pad is essential for my use.

The support web site is poorly organized as far as the knowledge base is concerned - overlapping and misleading categories.

I was dismayed to read that using the kb through a KVM (actually, just a usb switch for the keyboard in this case, since I am using an iMac and an intel machine with a separate monitor) is not supported. I do not need any programming on the intel side (other than the oddly labelled 'gaming mode' which makes the Fkeys work as they have worked since year 1).

This is an amazing keyboard once you start using it you can really tell the difference. Between a regular keyboard with a Razer keyboard. The cool thing about this keyboard is the clicking noise. The cherry blue makes an amazing sound and when you use it to type it makes you feel like a pro. Another thing i like is it's very responsive. You don't have to press the keys hard like you would normally have to do for keyboards. Just a few force and it will click. I really enjoy it when i play SC2 with this keyboard. It makes me feel like i'm someone from the slayers house. The thing i dislike about this is it leaves alot of finger print it gets dirty very easily so you have to clean it alot. If you have a mac and you want a keyboard instead of buying a mac keyboard buy this. I have a mac and this is perfect.
