5.0 out of 5 stars There's nothing better for real R&B lovers, October 9, 2002
This review is from: Blacka Da Berry (Audio CD)
I'm the biggest fan of Alfonzo Hunter as I'm the only one running a site about him so people may think I'm not sincere... the truth is that I listen to R&B since when I was a child and I bought everything from R. Kelly to Alicia Keys but "Blacka da Berry" still remains the masterpiece of my collection. There is no album I could recommend more.

I ordered this CD for my mom but found myself almost reluctant to give it to her. I'd forgotten how much I liked this artist since I haven't heard from him in such a long time. Glad I got it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Easily underrated!, September 4, 2006
This review is from: Blacka Da Berry (Audio CD)
This was one of the better albums to come out in '96. The first single, "Just The Way (Playas Play)" was a banger from day one and the rest didn't fail to disappoint! If you still can, cop it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album, May 24, 2006
This review is from: Blacka Da Berry (Audio CD)
I had this album when it first came out. Play it every so often and still sounds good. This was a good first effort for Hunter. If you are a fan of R&B and looking for some good slow jams and some hot upbeat cuts, GET THIS. Easily a under-rated CLASSIC.

This review is from: Blacka Da Berry (Audio CD)
Alfonzo Hunter's debut release with the Def Squad is a soothing, smoothed out released entitled Blacka Da Berry. To start off this album with the first four tracks produced by Eric Sermon and this by far is the best of his work. "Just The Way (Playas Play)", which features Eric Sermon, is the fastest tempo song that still is as laid back as Alfonzo's vocals. This Chicago native gives it up to his hometown on "Groove On". Alfonzo dedicates "Daddy's Little Baby" to his daughter and could be twisted for another message. He has subjects to keep your interest on a mellow night. There's even a shout out to all those friends that died on "Rest In Peace". Just when you think this is an average artist, he also flex his talents as a saxophone player as well. This album features Dave Hollister on the Sunday morning sermon given "Everything". "When You're Ready", get this album!

I have had this album since the day it came out, back in 1996. Everytime I play it at home or in my car, someone get the sticky finger syndrome. And you know what? I go out and buy another, because it is well worth it! And if someone jacks me again, I'M COPPING ANOTHA! @! Ya heard!
Album is off the hook ya'll........................
