By 2001 I had known about Norman Blake for 25 years; and never owned any of his records. The loss was mine, but now I am making up for lost time. If you have this CD; and "Whiskey Before Breakfast" you will own over an hour's worth of the best recorded traditional flatpicking guitar there is. That's all there is to it.

I first heard 'Blackberry Blossom' by Norman Blake over 20 years ago as a college student cruising the local record store. This was playing in the store and I bought it on the spot. That cassette wore out years ago and I was thrilled when 'Blackberry Blossom' was recently rereleased on CD.

I knew nothing about bluegrass before I heard this album so that day marked the beginning of a long and wonderful friendship.

I first heard Norman Blake at the Winfield Blugrass Festival back in the 70's; I was stunned by his talent. If you want purity of music, and exactness in its execution, Norman is your man. This album showcases his considerable talent and haunts you with the beauty and clarity of its message. A simply fantastic work!
