Also, you have to remember to tilt the tablet into and out of the dock (like the little paper instruction slip included in the packaging says)...
The problem is with the connector.
The base has a magnetic connector that includes three spring loaded pins. The pins extend to make contact with the three cupped connectors on the PB side of the connection.
After many uses (and probably a few where the PB was inadvertently put in upside down - hey, it happens) the springs stop working very well and they no longer make a connection.
If the middle one fails, you will know because the PB will not get that charging lightning bolt. However, if either of the sides stop working, you will still get the lightning bolt, but it will NOT charge.
This problem is well documented on the Crackberry website. It has nothing to do with the battery percentage accuracy - which is a totally different issue.
At first it will be an intermittent problem, but then it will be permanent.
For the price, they really should have tested this better. They will end up with lots of returns and will have to redesign the stand end of the connector.
As noted, when it was working, it was spectacular.
The connection is partly physical (a "bump" in the base connects with the indented charge port in the PB), and partly magnetic (it "snaps" in place). My Playbook appears to be fine (the three pins in the PB charge port remain in place) but the base no longer works. Tapping and fussing sometimes makes the charge light return, but only fleetingly, and without charging.
Avoid! This is waste of plastic.

Common issue with the playbook is the charging cable stops working, that is exactly what happened with mine, which made the device unchargable. Read morePublished 1 month ago by CD Ferr
