How does this guy stay under the radar?,
By
This review is from: Blackbird On A Lonely Wire (U.S.Version) (Audio CD)
This album is terrific top to bottom and I'll credit Amazon for helping me find it. If you've found your way to this page by searching for "related artists" and you're into John Mayer or Howie Day or something like that, then consider Hoge as a turn for a rougher cut of rock that is less pop and in my opinion more interesting. Not sappy, not loud...just great energy. Maybe the intersection of Howie Day/Counting Crows/Pete Yorn. Pick this up!

This CD is amazing,
This review is from: Blackbird On A Lonely Wire (U.S.Version) (Audio CD)
I bought this CD a couple years ago and it has been a mainstay in my CD player ever since. This is a roots rock 'n roll, with a touch of blues, and a little country--with exceptional vocals and with catchy tunes. I really can't tell you how much I have enjoyed this CD. It boggles my mind that this guy has not gotten huge. Trust me, this is a CD you will not regret buying.

Rock & Roll Just The Way You Like It,

First, I had heard "Be the One", then "Not That Cool". Read the reviews, and before you could blink an eye, this CD had become a "must have". If you're wondering where you can find a great rock CD today, look no further. From beginning to end, you'll be treated to some great music from Nashville's Will Hoge. Make sure you have a place in your CD player for it, because it'll probably stay there for a while. Listen to "King of Grey" and see if Van Morrison comes to mind. And "Secondhand Heart" brings to mind early Tom Petty. And Will Hoge can rock with the best of 'em. From "TV Set" through "All Night Long", you get three great rockers in a row. The middle of these three, "Better Off Now (That You're Gone)" is my favorite track here; "Secondhand" gets a close 2nd though. The closing track "Baby Girl" is the last of three ballads on the album and hints at country with steel guitar, although not anywhere near as prominent as in a country song. Altogether, great lyrics, great songs, just one great album.

A voice that will reach deep inside of you and wont let go!,

If anyone misses the true, untouched vocals of years past; ie, Bob Segar, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, then by all means, Will Hoge is what you are missing! His vocals take you back to the days before all the studio hype, and remind us all that indeed real singers still exist afterall! Will Hoge sings about real life and he seems to pour every ounce of his soul into every note! I am in awe of his music and am only sad that radio today does not trust in true talent for its airwaves but instead gives in to P.R and illusion! This guy is the real deal, period! Consumer warning; If you dare to listen to this guy's music, you will get hooked!

Blew Me Away,
By
This review is from: Blackbird On A Lonely Wire (U.S.Version) (Audio CD)
I just saw him open for Edwin McCain at the HOB on Saturday and let me just say, this was the best opening act I have ever seen. This guy rocked the house. Absolutely amazing. On stage he has a very cool Jeff Buckley vibe. Musically I felt a strong Counting Crows/Georgia Satellites sound. They were absolutely fantastic. So I could not help but pick up his cd's at the show, where he then proceded to autograph them. He was very gratious and enthusiastic. Just an all around nice guy. So on to the cd. Well let me just say wow. Just straight ahead rock and roll. No frills. Just good songwriting and a powerful voice, which he pulls off live too. This is a sound purchase, worth every cent. If you have a chance to catch them live, I highly recommend it.

Just when I thought Carousel was my favorite CD......,

This review is from: Blackbird On A Lonely Wire (U.S.Version) (Audio CD)
When I bought Carousel at a local concert in the Family Circle cup stadium 2 years ago...I played it until my ears were bleeding. I wondered how this follow up CD would compare. Well... to put it simply..."Blackbird on a lonely wire" is the best thing since...well since "Carousel"!!! A must have CD set for anyone who likes REAL Rock and roll. Great, educated song writing without the use of simplistic vulgar language which is so inherent in todays rock. If you get the chance to see these guys live... Dont miss them! Energetic and accurate! I was sold from the first song. "Second Hand Heart", "King of Grey", "Baby Girl", and "Better off Now" are definite stand-outs. Unless you hear them, you cannot imagine the "feeling" Will Hoge conveys. One of the best Rock vocalists I've heard in 20 Years.Do yourself a favor and listen to the samples. You wont be disappointed. The CD is one of those few that you won't have to skip every other song. I'm already ready for another!

Rockers from Nashville?,
By
This review is from: Blackbird On A Lonely Wire (U.S.Version) (Audio CD)
What do rockers from Nashville sound like? Like Will Hoge. One part Tom Petty, two parts Springsteen, a touch of Bob Dylan, and a lot of heart and soul. Will Hoge's newest release, Blackbird on a Lonely Wire is filled with heartbreaking ballads and full-out rock and roll. From the gentle piano lamenting heartbreak in "King of Grey" to the coming-to-terms with a former love moving on in "Someone Else's Baby", Hoge proves his ability to capture the pain of heartbreak. The tribute to AC/DC in "TV Set" or the rock anthem "All Night Long" display the nights spent on the road, building a legion of fans across the country. These boys from Nashville walk the fine line between Nashville song-writing and pure rock and roll performance...

Windjammers - South Carolina,
By
This review is from: Blackbird On A Lonely Wire (U.S.Version) (Audio CD)
I first heard the band in Charleston, South Carolina during the summer of 2007. I live in Missouri and had never heard of the band before. I think they are refreshing with a great sound. They have great lyrics for singing along and the music style is unique.
My 13 year old son even like some of the music and he is a hip hop kid. Thanks, Denia

A Killer CD,

This CD [rocks] If you like blazing "blue collar" rock 'n roll, it doesn't get any better than this. Who is this guy, you ask? Will Hoge is a well-kept secret that can line up with "The Boss", Tom Petty, Van Morrison and others. Man, if you're a rock and roller, take my word for it, get this CD! You will be pleasantly surprised.

This is one of my favorite CD's bought this year. He is a strong songwriter/storyteller with an intriguing voice. I am thankful that I took the time to listen to the clips and found this "hidden" gem.
