About the Director

Filmmaker Margaret Morales was raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She studied Environmental Science and Policy and English at Duke University and learned filmmaking at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke. She has worked on a number of documentary projects, nearly all focusing on issues of environmental awareness and justice. Her work has taken her from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where she documented the stories of local fisherman and fisheries, to the Peruvian Amazon, where she worked with local non-profit organizations developing sustainable livelihoods for small farmers. She was the Assistant Director for the documentary film Brother Towns, a film about Guatemalan immigrants and their challenges on both sides of the US border.
