Excellent Product,
This review is from: Blackburn Delphi 4.0 Bicycle Cyclometer (Sports)
The Delphi is an excellent cycle computer. It is the complete opposite to the terrible line of VDO computers I recently tried. Accuracy is exceptional and the display unit never loses lock with the transmitter. Setup is very easy and I found the display well laid out. The display is also easily read and the backlight is strong enough to actually be useful. I have only been out in light rain, but there were zero problems from moisture. My only small complaint is the mounting for the computer. It is fine for both regular and oversized bars, but it will not work on winged road bars. As wings seem to increase it would make better sense for a stem mount. All in all a great product for the money.

I was looking for a simple, and accurate unit that didn't have too many wires or looked clumsy. The fitment and quality are what you expect and more. I highly recommend it to anyone. Not sure I'll need the cadence computer, but it was nice I had the option not to install it.PL

The computer was easy to attach to my bike and all functions were a snap to program - EXCEPT the trip distance function. After fiddling with the unit and two calls to Delphi, it has been working flawlessly. The instruction manual - like many out there was not clearly written. Bet the writer was a "techie" who knows the product but has trouble writing an explanation. Overall, I'm very pleased with the unit.

This computer stores all the data that I need. my only complaint is the lap chronograph feature. You can't comtinue in a paticular lap mode once it stops. Other than that this a very good piece of equipment.Blackburn Delphi 4.0 Bicycle Cyclometer

Sold cyclocomputer,

I purchased one of these back in 2007, as a replacement for a CatEye I had lost at school. It functions very well in dry weather but can get a little wonky when wet or damp. It also can pick up signals from doors that open with an electronic or magnetic key, thus invalidating your average data, but then again I have had that problem with most every wireless cyclocomputer.[sob story] The night of UFC 100 my locks (Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit & a little wire lock for my front wheel) were cut and my bike was jacked. I don't know if you know that feeling but it is not a good one, I am a fairly laid back person and I still get angry when I think about it; that was my baby. I had just spent $200 fixing it up from a crash that was not my fault but was deemed that way and had spent the previous day tuning it to near perfection. Since I was a poor college student I couldn't afford another bike immediately so I held on to the few tools, lights and the Delphi 4.0. I graduated, moved to another country and picked up a new bike a few months later. [/sob story] After all of that I still had my Delphi 4.0. I liked it when I using it but since my mounts were attached to my old bike all I had was the unit. I was unable to find replacement mounts or sensors for sale so I called them up wondering if I could purchase a set. I told them my sob story and read one of the numbers off of the bottom of the computer. They said that they would ship the mounts and sensors out for no charge. I was stunned and a little taken back. Lo and behold three weeks later there it was, all the sensors and mounts accompanied with fresh zip ties, unbelievable. This computer is the last remanence of my stolen bike and even though it is a little quirky at times it is sentimental. The cyclocomputer gets 3.5 stars, but their awesome customer support gets an extra star since they replaced my stolen mounts and sensors. Overall Grade: A- Pros: Great customer support!!!! Affordable Wireless cadence Accurate speed Easy to set up Cons: Speed sensor is on the front wheel and wont work on a trainer Occasional signal corruption

The big plus with a wireless is that you don't have to mess with the cables. it goes on very easily and quickly. I already had another Blackburn so I was familiar with the set up but still took a few minutes and the manual to get tire size and mph vs kph set up. It has a lap feature I'll probably never use and a wired cadence sensor I haven't installed yet.One knock on wireless is that you sometimes get interference. I've got about 200 miles on it so far and it did act up once when a train went by. Kept alternating between 74 and 86 mph...I wish. As soon as the train passed me by, it picked right up where it left off and didn't lose a thing. Good sized readout. For the money it does all I want it to. I'd buy another.

Poor magnet threads,
This review is from: Blackburn Delphi 4.0 Bicycle Cyclometer (Sports)
The unit itself is ok but what lets it down is the magnet attachment for the spokes. The magnet screws on to the spokes which should be fine , except that the thread the screw goes into is plastic. Overtighten it and you are screwed!!! as the thread is knackered. Then the magnet gets loose , turns , slides up and down , twists and the unit works intermittantly or not at all. Most annoying. In the end I had to use super glue to fix it. It is a fairly basic design fault which they could easily rectify with a metal thread insert.

For one week this worked like a charm and I thought it was a great little computer. It looked nice, the display was large and readable, and it had a nice feature set.Well that was then. The now is that it has died and won't come back to life. It pops in and out of consciousness once in awhile, but it's generally unresponsive. All data you enter, and all data it accumulates (such as the odometer) is gone in a flash. It's not something simple like the battery either. The green display light stays dimly on now, even after putting in a fresh battery. Based on this and one other piece of Blackburn equipment I have possessed, I will never again buy a product under that label. I am now convinced that Blackburn is synonymous with "cheap" (and "cheap" is not always a reflection of price).

It was a little difficult to set up but this was really my first cyclometer so that may have been the problem. Once it was set up it worked quite well and gave me all of the info I need for my rides. I would recommend this to all but the most serious riders.

It works great and I am pleased with the purchase. I had to call them once regarding setting up the wired cadence counter. They sent a replacement for that in case I needed it. It arrived in about 3 days. No other problems and it keeps track of everything it promised on my new recumbant trike. Pauline in MI
