4.0 out of 5 stars Great Light
Best light for it's price range. Small, light, easy to mount and brighter than any other light in it's price range. I haven't any draining issues but then again I keep my night rides minimal.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing battery life

I already owned the Blackburn Flea Rear red light and loved it, so I purchased this one to replace my heavier front light. I only ride during the day, and use the front and rear lights on flash for visibility to cars. The Amazon site stated that the light lasted "3 hour runtime steady, 6 hours runtime flash" per charge. The light I purchased from Amazon only lasted 2 hours or less per charge when used in flashing mode. Recharged and tried 3-4 times, never got better. Returned the light to Amazon (they were out of stock so I couldn't exchange it for a new one) and they were great, refunded my money. Then went to my local bike shop, bought another one. This one lasts around 3-4 hours on flash - better, but not long enough for my regular rides. Disappointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars If you ride in the dark don't buy this light., July 25, 2009
This review is from: Blackburn Flea Front HL Bicycle Headlight (Sports)
Bought this light a month ago and was extremely disappointed. Went to ride with a friend at night and we could not stop laughing at how dim the light was. If you bike a lot at night don't get this light, it's a waste of time and money. Not only the battery life only lasts two hours but you can't see anything when there is any battery left in it.

2.0 out of 5 stars crappy bike light, June 22, 2011
This review is from: Blackburn Flea Front HL Bicycle Headlight (Sports)
I have a front and rear light. Both were bright enough for casual riding in the Bay Area. But after recharging a handful of times (maybe 5-8) the battery life decreased to under and hour. Instead of wasting your money on this crappy light, upgrade to an LED that runs on battery and use rechargeable ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars First-rate bike light, March 24, 2009

The Flea front light is just great: really small, really bright, mounts and unmounts really easily (important in urban environment).

The charging is a little quirky -- essentially mini jumper cables that attach to the light and to an AAA,AA,C, or D cell -- but it works.

Highly recommended. Far better choice than the Blackburn quadrant, which this light replaced.

Based on its performance, I am going to buy the rear light, too.

2.0 out of 5 stars good as a backup, but not for regular night use, May 8, 2011
This review is from: Blackburn Flea Front HL Bicycle Headlight (Sports)
It's a legal headlight, it's very easy to take on and off, and it charges using a computer USB port. Thus, it's perfect as a light to stash in my work bag for days when I get stuck there late and unexpectedly need to do a short commute home after dark. However, for serious night riding this is inadequate--not very bright and restricted to a very narrow field of illumination. Plus, every time I go over a manhole cover the vibration shakes loose the velcro mount, such that the light is pointing back into my face and I have to pull over and fix it.

1.0 out of 5 stars 5 star light, 0 star reliability, January 25, 2011
This review is from: Blackburn Flea Front HL Bicycle Headlight (Sports)
These lights are quite impressive for their size. Remember that it is a ridiculously small package with four leds. Clearly the main aim here is size and convenience. The USB charger is very handy, but fiddly to use with it's magnetic attachment system - why not just use a normal mini or micro USB ??? The lights are bright enough to use as a secondary flasher in an urban environment, with lots of ambient light, but in a rural area they are more than sufficient for finding your way home.

My main gripe is the quality control. I have now gone through three front Flea's and two rear Fleas, all of which stopped working after about 3 months. The most recent one I bought didn't even work when I got it home from the shop! I have kept buying them because I wanted a consistent charging system for front and back lights, but enough is enough.

The product is great, but the quality is rubbish.

BE AWARE: The item description mentions a USB charger, but the item received does NOT come with a USB charger. It comes with a "weird" charging system that allows user to charge the LED light with regular AA or AAA batteries by connecting each extremity of the battery (the "+" and "-") to the body of the light. I return the product to get the real USB charger version, hence I can't comment on a day-to-day usage of the Blackburn Flea headlight ... though, it does seem really bright!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Headlight, November 24, 2009

This is a great cycling headlight for the price. Lights up the road better than anything else I've tried in that price range. The only negative is that you may have to recharge it after every ride... thankfully it only takes a couple of seconds to hook up and you don't have to remove it from the bike.
