It is a big and bright light that turns on easily with a rubberized switch. In addition to solid on, there are two flashing patterns. The battery life is amazingly long when you stick with the flashing modes.

However, when you do have to change the battery, you'll be removing some screws to open the cover. If you ride on salty roads, you'll also discover that the hardware isn't stainless. The screws on mine became pretty rusty over one winter.

Flash mode visibility rivals bike lights costing three times as much!!!

Only small flaw to this supreme lamp is the rear cover (housing) seems to crack around some of the screw holes. Screws are plain steel instead of stainless steel.

Don't let this small defect deprive you from owning one of the best bicycle taillights ever made!

This bicycle lights beats the other two I've had hands down. I love the button on top of the unit that allows me to just reach down and power it on. I sometimes forget to power it on before I leave and now I don't have to pull over. The brightness of the unit is also quite good, I love the three patterns although I do stick to the flashing pattern. Highly recommend this light.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Bright, Cool Design, August 18, 2006

While I eventually went with the Mars 3.0 because it's a little bit brighter and has a bit wider viewing angle, I prefer the look of this taillight. It has side amber LEDs, which is often not mentioned in the description. The mount is a standard seat post mount with an up/down pivot (screw). With the belt clip removed it can mount to the standard reflector mount (one circular post and one bolt/screw). It is a very nice product.

The Blackburn Mars 2.0 Flasher light is really cool. It was easy to install and when riding it is easy to reach the ON button while riding. This light is great if you want to optimize your safety while riding and the three flash modes makes it unique. My favorite flash mode is the third, which has random lights blinking. It is a fun and safe product for your bike. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent bike light, January 3, 2007
This review is from: Blackburn Mars 2.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light (Sports)
This is a great bike light for the money. It's easy to install and has 3 different flash modes, including a still light. It runs on AAA batteries, but it doesn't use much power so the battery lasts a long time.
The only difficult thing is replacing the battery (which you rarely have to do). You have to remove the light from your bike and unscrew 3 small screws. However considering the quality and durability its worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bright is an understatement, September 11, 2008
This review is from: Blackburn Mars 2.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light (Sports)
I bought this light after a few weeks of painstakingly trolling Amazon for a quality and inexpensive light. I was originally attracted to the sleek futuristic looking design, followed closely by its high reviews from other customers. As others have noted, I see where a small crack could form on the backing, but a properly sized screwdriver and some gentleness should alleviate any problem. This light is great. It fits on my bike snug, it has 3 separate functions, all easily operated by a single rubberized button Also, it is REALLY bright. (WARNING: don't look into this light directly if your eyes are sensitive) I would definately suggest this to anyone looking for a cheap, well put together light.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good bright rack light, March 3, 2008

This review is from: Blackburn Mars 2.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light (Sports)
Blackburn Mars 2.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light I commute by bicycle 12 months a year. I carry panniers and a bag that sits on top of my rear rack. Most rear bicycle lights are designed to mount on the seatpost and do not come with mounting hardware that permits easy mounting of the light on a rear rack. The top bag I use would block the view of seatpost mounted light.

I wanted a light which would mount to a L bracket bolted to the rack. The Blackburn Mars 2.0 is one of few that can be so mounted without lots of jerry-rigging. Strengths: The Blackburn Mars 2.0 is lightweight, bright, enjoys long battery life and has several flashing patterns. Drawbacks: The on/off button is hard to use with gloves on and mounting to the L Bracket and dismounting from the L Bracket is a little tricky, depending on your L bracket. There is a black plastic clamp on the back that you may have to shave off a little to get your L bracket between it and the light for mounting. Still, it is the only light I have found that mounts this easily on an L Bracket. I recommend it to all who bicyclist who use a rear rack and trunk bag.

Great product, very bright and highly visible. This flasher also has 2 amber L.E.D.s on the back side for added visibility wich are not included in the product description. Great value.

I had one before and lost it somehow, so I ordered another. They have a great visibility range and several settings for display. Great product, will provide notice for your safety.
