5.0 out of 5 stars funk on a stick and a bag of chips!!!
if you like funky, cheesy, nasty, and downright incredibly nice beats, this album is for you. i'm not some yoyo who listens to the commercialized crap that everyone buys these days. i'm a sophisticated 22 year old college student, a serious jazz keyboardist, and a tough as hell critic when it comes to music. rock creek park is the king joint of the album and the rest...

3.0 out of 5 stars Blackbyrds Greatest Hits...
For anyone who is not yet familiar with the Blackbyrds, this collection is a good place to start. Many of their more popular tunes are available, in their full length. "Soft and Easy" stands out for me on the album. Three stars!!

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars. Legendary funk, soul, and jazz., March 20, 2006
This review is from: The Blackbyrds - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
The Blackbyrds are one of the best bands of the '70's. The only reason I'm not giving this album 5 stars is because they left out 'Mysterious Vibes'. It definitely should have been included since it is a greatest hit for sure. The Joey Negro remix of 'Mysterious Vibes' off Disco Heaven 2003 is also awesome. If you haven't heard these guys yet it'd be well worth your effort.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really jammin, July 28, 2008
This review is from: The Blackbyrds - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
These guys can sing and be jammin' for real. Though I'm only familiar with "Rock Creek Park" and "Walking in Rhythm" I can tell this is worth sitting back and listening to the whole cd. This takes me back in serious time. I remember hearing "Walking" in department stores when I was a small kid. Like the reviewer before me, the flute player's got it going on.

Rock Creek Park is the best song the blackbyrds ever created by far but doesn't the lead singer song like a young Micheal Jackson listen to it closely.

donald byrd was already wicked and together with this group he jams made and hard with the crew on this must have.walking in rhythm, rock creek park is still banging, happy music grooves.this is why i believe you can't mess with funk groups cuz not only did they do there own things but also had there own sound and style that's whats terribly lacking today among others mainly talent. this disc is wicked.

By A Customer
This review is from: The Blackbyrds - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I have been searching for Barney Perry's (later known as Blair) hit single, Night Life' that came out in 1978. It is currently out of print. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find a good copy of it? Thanks.
