5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Tech, April 1, 2011

This review is from: Blackfilm (MP3 Download)
Blackfilm has created something completely unique. Blackfilm is a gothic electronic album completely devoid of any redundant house or incessant ambient formations. The work changes continually and grows organically throughout the entire album. The only other relevant contemporary to Blackfilm would be Ben Frost. Blackfilm is the score to a horror film that was never made. The emergence of Blackfilm offers hope for the future of intelligent and adult electronic music. Those few of us who follow the modern evolution of electronic music are beginning to witness the much desired transition of electronic music from primitive dance music into fully-formed orchestrations that rival any modern symphonic composer. Musicians like Blackfilm are finally forcing techno to grow-up, and it is about time.

This album makes for some very uneasy listening. It's jazzy, it's beat-heavy, but it's darker than coal. I love it, but it's not for the faint of heart.

If you dig Teargas & Plateglass, then you'll love Blackfilm. It's the perfect Halloween party music for beatfreaks and jazzheads of all shapes and sizes.

5.0 out of 5 stars dark gritty boppin, December 24, 2009
This review is from: Blackfilm (MP3 Download)
If you like Amon Tobin, this is less of a rip-off than Tycho is of Boards of Canada. They throw in some awesome eastern melodies, and really--this album rips. Great downtempo for the holidays
