I love the fabric and tailoring of these pants, my first BH pair. Half of the pants in my closet are cargo/hiking pants, and I immediately realized how good the quality of these tac pants are, besting my other oft-used hiking pants. These are obviously designed with rough everyday military use in mind, but of course for a non-military but an avid hiker like myself it is quite suitable. It fits me just right (32Wx30L) and it hangs on my hips very comfortably. I don't feel skin on my legs or buttocks getting pulled when I sit or move since the crotch is gusseted and the legs are roomy. No worries about putting these on in the cold months because there's sufficient room for thermal pants, even those made of fleece.
The garters on the hips which give the waist some play is an innovation that I first saw on these pants. There are plenty of pockets, and the discreet zippered ones on the right hip both front and back are a thoughtful addition, significantly cutting the risk of wallet/key lost when you're out in some jungle crawling or rolling about in maneuvers. Though I likely won't be doing such maneuvers myself, when out hiking in the boondocks you would slip and slide on some trail once in a while, and I won't have to worry about losing important stuff stashed in the zippered extra pockets which the cargo pockets also have.
The DWR (durable water repellent) treatment is another thoughtful feature; it happened to rain the night I first wore these and unlike my other cargo pants that are made of cotton twill, which soak up water droplets, the fabric didn't seem to have gotten wet at all. But if you want to maintain its water repellent quality, you need to wash it with a special solution like McNett ReviveX Wash-in Water Repellent or Nikwax Tech Wash which I will use in subsequent washings.
My only gripe is when it arrived it was as if it was ironed with creases and so I had to pop the pants in the washer to get rid of those and now they look a lot less stiff and really ready for some rugged use. An earlier reviewer had noted the color of the olive drab model, which is indeed a different shade of olive from my other OD cargo pants but it's fine by me.
