This a great product. The first shotgun I fired was and auto loader witch has significantly less recoil then a pump 12Ga. and never liked the recoil of non auto loaders and recoil pads just never seemed to do the job. So I bought this stock and was very pleased with it's performance. The manufacture claims a 95% redeuction in recoil. Well I don't have means to measure how much eaxct recoil it absorbs, but I can say that my pump shotgun now has a lot less recoil then an auto loader. I can fire one hand if I want to (not recomended for safty). The construction of the stock is one of the best I have seen. Most composite stock I have seen appear and feel a little week, and the composite they used on this stock not only appears but is much sturdier then most. I like the fact that part that bolts directly to the shotgun is not composite, but is made of AL. metal. This way there is no fear of any failur at the interface point. Over I extreamly happy I purchased this stock!

This is nice add on and noticeably reduces felt recoil to allow for quicker resets and follow-on shots. However, it does change your cheek position and subsequently your site picture by raising it up about 3/4" over the factory stock which raises your head over the sites. You can buy a special wedge type spacer that changes the angle back to factory original (do a web search for "ATI Stock Drop Spacer MRW 4500" about $7) to correct this. Also, if you are using a forend light, you will need to learn a new grip as the recoil angle changes slightly making the light hit your hand if you are not careful. Firing a couple hundred rounds will set this angle into muscle memory ;)
Enjoy

I purchased this for my Mossy after my first trip the range. The factory stock left me bruised and sore for days. After only 25 rounds I was done. After installing this stock I was able to comfortably run 200 rounds with no problem. It really does work as advertised and I have to say, I can't believe the difference. It's like going from a 30-30 to a 22. Well, that might be a stretch, but you get the idea. If you are considering a tactical stock for your Mossberg, look no further.

This is a pretty good product and does what it says. However, I give it 4 out of 5 stars because the forend that comes with the stock, while a nice bonus, comes with "less than helpful" instructions on installation. Come to find out, if you have a 6.75" slide tube with a Mossberg 500, you need to buy a special "forend adapter nut" from a company called Hogue. With shipping, that comes to another $18.00, plus the frustration of having to figure out how to get the plastic forend off the threads.
Anyway, neat product but I'd have rather bought the stock for $75 or so and let them keep the forend.

The stocks works like it say it does but it is heavy. Be prepared for the weight of it. Also the forearm is standard size so if you have a 6 shot side saddle it will not fit and those are the 2 complaints about this stock. Besides it being have it really does work. I loaded some Remington Magnum Buckshot into my tactical pump and the stock sucked it up. Its good for killing Zombies!!!!!!!!!!!! Good hunting.

I purchased the Blackhawk Knoxx SpecOps stock for my Remington 870 Express 8 Shot. The stock installed super easy - in about 10 minutes. Remove the butt pad (two screws), remove the old stock (1 screw). Remove the shoulder extension from the Knoxx stock (slides right off) and screw the stock in place then re-install the shoulder extension. Done. The Knoxx stock also came with a fore-end, which took most of the 10 minutes. This required removing the tube extension, the barrel, the fore-end nut, then working the original fore-end and replacing with the Blackhawk. Then reinstalling the barrel and the tube extension. The fore-end change out also allowed me to install the receiver mounted UTG rail without interference (the bottom of original fore-end would hit it when the slide was racked.)
Shooting with the Blackhawk Knoxx SpecOps stock was even more impressive. The recoil was reduced by quite a bit. Previous to the installation of the SPecOps stock, my shoulder was sore after about 10 rounds. After the installation of the stock, 35 rounds and I was still ready to shoot more. It made shooting the 870 real fun! The only thing that could have made this better is the inclusion of a fore-end wrench (have one before you start to insure you can remove and re-install the fore-end.) and the Blackhawk PowerPak (Cheek rest and five shell holder.)

The shipping was fast an accurate. Stock installed easily and without issue. The only problem is that with the Mossberg 590a1 the sight picture has been thrown off a bit. It is very hard for me to align the ghost ring sights without forcing the stock into an unnatural and uncomfortably high position on my face. I tried using the washer from the original manufacturer stock and retained my alignment, but had a very small gap, maybe an 1/8 of an inch, between the stock and the receiver. The recoil reduction is noticeable and makes a dramatic difference. It does feel very awkward at first but I think i will get used to it. Overall a good product, but it will take some time and customization to get it feeling natural.

This stock works as claimed. Last Saturday I shot one round of trap with the factory stock and the shoulder and cheek were sore nearly all week. Shot two rounds of trap this morning with the Blackhawk stock and have no sore shoulder or cheek. It really does absorb the pounding recoil rather than it being absorbed by the shooter. The adjustability is very nice too.
The installation was very easy on a Maverick 88. The included forend was not installed. The Maverick 88 already has a matching black composite forend so replacing it seemed like a waste of time. I've also heard it can be difficult to install the Blackhawk forend on the Maverick 88. The butt stock has a swivel point on it. So by replacing the bolt on your barrel to a swiveling bolt you can easily add a sling without any drilling. If I could suggest one improvement it would be to include a stock drop spacer. The default fit raises the sight line above the rib or open sights on a slug barrel. I ordered two of the stock drop spacers from ATI. One spacer put the sight line back where it belongs. If you wanted to lower the comb even more you could use another spacer. You would need to use a longer bolt to attach the stock then though. I didn't see a very easy way to remove the existing bolt from the stock and replace it with a longer one. I'm looking forward to trying it with slugs one of these days. I wasn't sure if this stock would work ok for trap shooting and hunting. I'm convinced now that it is just the ticket.

The hard hitting recoil of the original butt stock of any shot gun can hurt, and be very aggravating, and take all the fun out of shooting. Blackhawk Knoxx has put the joy back into the sport of shooting. Since I have replaced my original stock with the BlackHawk SpecialOps, I shoot twice as long an can't wait to go out shooting again. If you don't already have this stock, You don't know what your missing. This BlackHawk SpecialOps is all that, an then some. It's a must have.............Highly Recommended!!!

Reduces recoil, but less accurate and hits my cheek hard!!,

This is a well made stock, that really does reduce recoil by quite a bit. I don't think it is the 95% they advertise, maybe by 50%. I really like the stocks looks and build quality. It fits my Remington 870 very well. The problems I have with it are that because the stock doesn't slide perfectly straight back on recoil it takes you a fraction of a second longer to regain your site picture. I'm very used to feeling the recoil and bringing my site back to it's previous position with a regular non-recoil absorbing stock. With this stock there is no consistent direction the stock slides back. Sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left, sometimes straight back. I have found that my groups at 50 feet with slugs are much further apart than with a standard stock. Also, if you normally set your cheek close to the receiver of the gun when you shoot beware! On recoil, the stock will slide back and slam you in the cheek bone very hard. I had quite a bruise on my cheek after the first time I shot with this stock until I figured out what was happening. It forces you to move your cheek plant back on the stock to a point that I felt I have less control of the gun. It feels very odd to me to set my cheek back at that point. You can get cheek pieces for an additional $30 to $40 to fit this stock, and they come with high or low cheek pieces and a 5 round shell holder that mounts on the butt of the stock. I'm not fond of how they look and even with the low cheek piece, it sets my cheek location too high on the gun to site down the barrel using my ghost ring sites. If you normally plant your cheek far back on the stock of your gun you will probably not be bothered by the stock sliding back and slamming your cheek bone. I wish they could have designed the stock so that it slides back consistently on recoil. Maybe someone will. I still like the stock and how it looks, but I find myself not using the gun as much as some of my other guns due to the issues this stock creates. I was hoping for the perfect solution for recoil on a 12 gauge shotgun, but I'm afraid this isn't it.
