This review is from: Blackie and Marie (Hardcover)
If you ever stumble across this treasure grab it. It's a book equally heartbreaking and laugh-out-loud funny. Set in an old Eastern European landscape, this is the story of a child afraid of the old lady next door, Marie, and her dog Blackie. When she finally visits Marie all you see of Blackie are two big eyes under the bed. After the old woman passes away the girl fearfully goes next door to see if Blackie is OK. And when she offers Blackie some kindness he explodes with love. It's a brilliant exploration of the power of generosity and selflessness.
