Book Description

July 25, 2003
This new Blackjack Counter (as in "Card Counter") Basic Strategy card for 4-8 Decks is a blackjack card counter's dream come true. The laminated, six-panel, tri-fold card with rounded corners devotes four panel sides to covering the possible rule combinations of allowing or not allowing doubling down after a split, and the dealer hitting or standing on soft 17. Thus the card contains four playing strategies to allow you to choose the correct playing strategy for the rules that are in effect where you play.

The strategies display color-coded decision cells in addition to showing the text of the decision so you can choose which way you learn best. Also, each strategy panel is section-coded to facilitate learning the most important decisions first. Surrender is included among the decisions, and footnotes provide alternatives when decisions are not allowed. The 3.5" x 5" panel size makes possible larger text than on other strategy cards and three-letter (not confusing one-letter) decision abbreviations, yet the card still fits in your pocket.

End panels, which contain slits, are designed to fold in both directions and to lay flat to make it easy for you to quickly refer to the strategy you wish to use. One panel contains a pithy, insightful discussion of the playing decisions to help new players learn how to play the game; another panel provides a table which shows the Player Edge for each of four rule combinations.

By using this Blackjack 6·7·8 Counter Basic Strategy Card, card counters will be able to get an even greater edge over the house.

If you count cards and vary your bet with the count, or plan on so doing, using the Counter (as in "Card Counter") Basic Strategy card results in winning about 20% more money than using regular Basic Strategy (the Counter Basic Strategy card shows a table with the Player Edge). There are no count indexes to memorize. Counter Basic Strategy is simply a variation of regular Basic Strategy except that Counter Basic Strategy utilizes a card counting method (such as the Hi-Lo or K-O) to determine when and by how much to vary your bet with the count. The playing strategies on the Counter Basic Strategy card are based on a bet range of 16 to 1, but the card can be used with virtually any bet range and any counting method.

Blackjack 6-7-8 strategy cards are also available for Basic (Playing) Strategy for 1 Deck, 2 Decks, and 4-8 Decks. The titles of the four different cards are color-coded (red, purple, blue, and green) so you can easily and quickly distinguish one card from another.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good strategy cards for the blackjack card counter., November 29, 2009

These special cards are useful for the card counter who wishes to increase their earnings potential without having to memorize special index plays based on the count.

These cards are simply basic strategy cards with a dozen or so high count advantage plays incorporated into it. Most of these plays are known as the 'illustrious 18' or 'sweet 16' in blackjack circles.

Do not use these counter basic strategy cards if you don't count cards! The advantage derived from making these plays all the time comes when you have a high count and are making plays like doubling 8 vs. dealer 6, or doubling A7 vs. 2 when you have a lot of money in the pot. Normally, these types of plays are only correct when the count is high (ie - true count +2 or greater). But this is a 'dollar-weighted' strategy. Yes, you'll be making some plays incorrectly when the count is even or low (such as standing with 16 vs. dealer 10). But because you'll be betting the minimum at those times, your losses will be minimal to negligible. However, you'll be more than making up for it when the count is high and you have a lot of money in.

And by playing these all the time, you also have a little built in camouflage as the eye in the sky won't be seeing you make these special plays only when the count is high.

So, if you're a card counter (or working to be a card counter) and want to make a little bit more money (12-20%) over just playing basic strategy all the time, then these cards are a good thing.

If you're a card counter who doesn't want to memorize basic strategy in addition to the special index plays made at certain counts, this will make things a bit easier while still pulling in a bit extra money.

But if you count cards, know basic strategy, and know when to make the special index plays that deviate from basic strategy based on the count, then these cards won't really help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Math not luck, October 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Blackjack Counter Basic Strategy, 4-8 Decks (Cards)
Las Vegas has a saying, "players depend on luck, casinos depend on math". Well, here's your chance to almost even those odds to within 1/2%. These blackjack strategy cards (all 4 for 1, 2, or 4-8(2) decks) do the math for you and stretch your money a long, long way. You will get your money back in the first hour of play and wish you had had them a long time ago. If you play blackjack, this is the one item you should take with you. And you don't even have to think, pretty nice ugh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Information. Too Bad I I left it in my pants and it got washed.:(, August 9, 2010

The basic strategy card came in handy at the table... The casino let me leave it on the table while I was playing. Unfortunately I forgot it in my trousers when I threw the pants in the washer...needless to say it is very hard to read now. I will have to order another one...everyone who sits at a blackjack table really need to have one of these to make better decisions. Too many people have no clue how to play the game.
