It took me a while before I splurged on the Blackline Maps of World History. Instead I spent WAY to much time trying to find the right map somewhere in internet-land. After much frustration, wasted time, and difficult to read maps, I finally bought this. All I can saw is WOW! These maps are fantastic, and believe me I've seen enough bad ones to know. They are clear and very pleasing to the eye and the best part is that they come in two forms: a blank map and a filled in map key. This is very important because sometimes it can be very tricky filling in maps from ancient times, especially depending on what atlas you are using. Terri Johnson has made it so easy for us all. I love these maps and my children think they are pretty good too.

I have used this resource over the past several years in our chronological study of world history in our home school. I have NEVER gone to the book/CD looking for a specific map and not been able to find what I was looking for, it is that thorough. The maps are excellent quality. They are very clear and well done, with, in my opinion, just the right amount of detail. My kids don't LOVE map work, but they do it willingly becasue it's not overkill. I have found the authors lesson plans to be helpful and insightful, usually bringing out the points that I would like to see covered, as well as some things I might not have thought about. This is a trusted, well-used resource in our home school, and a bargain at that.

We actually have the e-book version of the Blackline Maps of World History. But it is still such a valuable resource! Every homeschool family needs this in some form in their home. It works with any history/geography curriculum. With this book, you save SO much time because all the maps you could possibly need are right there. No more searching the internet for a map you can use. This is one of the best purchases I've made in my 10+ years of homeschooling!

I was very disappointed in this book of hisotrical maps and sent them back immediately. To add insult to injury, the attached CD was of American, rather than World History maps. Firstly the maps are extremely simplified and appear hand drawn. Secondly in two minutes I saw several significant inaccuracies and even spelling mistakes ("territory seded to France"). For example it has completely messed up the borders of Germany and Poland on the Cold War map. As a high school teacher, I would be embarassed to give most of those maps to my students. This is only appropriate for elementary or perhaps middle school students, but even they deserve something better.
If you want geography, a far better choice is Geography Coloring Book (3rd Edition) by Wynn Kapit. It has very accurate maps and up to date information. Unfortunately it has only one or two historical maps.

Because I went through public school, my knowledge of geography is abysmal. So, when I started homeschooling, I wanted my children to know geography much better than I did. But I'm just too busy to find maps, especially ancient ones, on the internet. Thank goodness Terri Johnson did it for me! Her maps are detailed without being overwhelming, and they're easy to label. There's plenty of white space on the maps, which is great for young children who can't write small. We will be using these maps all the way through to high school graduation--we'll never need another map resource!

The Blackline Maps is a well done resource. Each select map has a "filled in" map and a blank map to practice what you've learned. The maps are very clear and uncluttered - just the important items are listed. With over 200 maps you can find just about any time period, war, expansion, etc. that you are looking for. It is extremely helpful to see the area as it was (during the period you are studying) instead of trying to imagine it from a current map! My dad, who is a history buff, poured over the book for at least an hour. He was very impressed with the accuracy and the completeness of the book. Any student, homeschooled or not, will find this any invaluable resource for studying and envisioning history. Highly recommended!

I think this book is great. it gives you the complete set of blackline maps that you can download in sections but at a much more reasonable price. the CD makes it perfect for printing of multiple copies for many children. This item is perfect for my home school. It gives both the plain style of map with out labels and ones with labels. They are perfect for coloring adding topical information and you can create specific types of maps very easily; such as population, topography, political etc.

Tremendous resource. I wish I had this resource ten years ago. Historical outline maps are provided that cover all of World History. Highly recommend.

I didn't purchase this resource when I first discovered it as I was hoping to find what I needed online. This was a mistake. I found a few maps, but, they didn't really fit my needs and they weren't very professional looking. This is an all-in-one resource with maps from all throughout history. We have found it very helpful in giving a sense of where places are on the globe. This was learned in context of our history studies and therefore provided a base to remember things rather than just looking at a map of "somewhere". Each map has 2 versions, the filled in one and the one to be filled in. This is helpful for correct placement on the map to be filled in, and the filled in map can be used for other projects as well. The CD that is included makes printing off multiple copies of maps extremely easy, and is a cost saver for those that have multiple children or want to use the map in multiple ways. The lesson plans are helpful as they give directions on what to do and helps point out important things to note on the maps. This resource is highly recommended!

I've taught history for 10 years and this is, by far, the best book of map outlines. I found this book when I was looking for a particular map of Cold War Europe and couldn't find a decent blackline master anywhere. The CD is especially helpful since it allows you to print out a clean, straight copy each time. I highly recommend this book.
