Finally Funk Doc & Mr. Mef return,
By
This review is from: Blackout 2 (Audio CD)
Method Man & Redman return after almost 10 years since their last collabo album and 7 ½ years since their "How High Soundtrack" with a very solid 4 star album. After being in the rap game for 16+ years most know what to expect when these 2 get on the mic and when they collaborate on songs. I think this album is a notch aboue the first "Blackout!" album (which I'd also give 4 stars). I do like their solo works better than their collaboration albums, most of their solo's I'd give 4.5 stars. This one has some funnier tracks and some smoking tracks as well as some nice lyrical ones too. Of the 15 songs, 2 are ok and the other 13 are good or real good songs but there is no classics on here. Guests are on 4 songs rapping and doing the chorus on 4 others. Production is solid as well. Rockwilder & Erick Sermon each do 2 songs, Bink One!, King David, Havoc, Pete Rock, Swiff D, Nasty Kutt, Ty Fyffe, and Buckwild all do 1 song. A nice album to have from 2 hip-hop veterans.

I absolutely positively loved it. Its the second BO2 that I purchased because the cd was so tight that I let somebody borrowed it, and never got it back. But I couldnt have Blackout without having Blackout 2. BO2 has the same dank chamber music sound as it predecesor, it's just an extention. Their is no new flavor that anybody adds to the mix. But if you are already a Mef&Red fan, this is perfect for you because you get exactly what you expected. Both of their wordplay is quick-witted,clever, sharp as the WUTANG sword! Fellow Clansmen Ghostface Killah, and Streetlife returns for the sequel. Raekwon the Chefis also featured.Eric Sermon, and Keith Murray from the Def Squad also make guest appearances. Also Bun B from UGK appeares on "City lights" an ode to the late great Pimp C.GillaHouse emcee Ready Roc is also featured on the album. If you loved Blackout Then I highly recommend Blackout 2. Wutang fans will love this cd trust and believe it's one of my favorite Mef cds.

Method Man has been my favorite Wu-Tang Clansmen since 1993. So perhaps I am biased in my views....
In the early nineties, Wu-Tang music was dirty, gritty, and wholly original. But sadly, too many imitators copied the Wu-Tang style, forcing the Clansmen to evolve and change their unique sound in order to stay ahead of the game. These evolutions and changes have divided Wu-heads since 1997. Regardless of these divisions, the Osirus of the Clansmen, Ol' Dirty Bastard, declared, "Wu-Tang is here forever." Truth be told, I prefer Method Man's solo efforts, such as "Tical" or "4:21 - The Day After." That said, Method Man's collaboration album with Redman was a wonderful mix of Wu-Tang and Def Squad sensibilities and expertise. There was never a dull moment when Meth and Red blessed the mic back in 1999. "Blackout! 2" arrives over ten years later. "Blackout! 2" is almost as hot (and almost as smoky) as its predecessor. The formula is familiar. Like their first collaboration album, "Blackout! 2" is a celebration of blunts and broads. Meth and Red rip through clever lyrics over unique, Wu-banging beats. What more could you want? Is this joint as dirty, gritty, and as wholly original as "Blackout!"? (I don't think so.) Is it a display of witty, unpredictable talent, and natural game? (Well...I'll let you decide.) "Blackout! 2" is definitely a genuine Wu-banger. Light `em up boys. This joint is perfect for your next party (inasmuch as the party attendees know the difference between good music and 50 Cent). This is true hip-hop, in an age of s---y copy cats and talent-less shark biters. If you're a fan of Hot Nikkels and Funk Doc, cop this joint after you cop their first album. As for me...I'm hoping "Blackout! 2" will grow on me during these next ten years. Wu-Tang forever. Peace.

This cd is great redman and methodman showed everybody that ten years is nothin in there case. They came back better than ever this cd is a platinum cd it should not go gold. I say if this cd goes gold and not platinum fans let them down. there frist cd balckout 1 went platinum so this one is real good to. I like to say for it being ten years since there frist blackout redman and methodman lost nothing they have the same swager for ten years. To tell you they truth if redman and methodman didnt make a new cd in 20 years they still be the same nothing want change with them. To everybody buy the cd its all worth it you will enjoy this cd a lot every song keeps you into the cd and wonder what redman and mathodman may do next on the cd. they are on top like they were ten years ago with balckout 1. Blackout 2 is classic and keep this with you when you buy it.

To quote Redman "Hip Hop Is n Trouble the whole game is lacking"
I Wanta thank Red n Meth personally for this classic! Rap nowadays is Crap! Too many lil cats putting a black eye n the rap game u know who I'm talking bout lil wayne soulja boy kid cudi the list goes on n on Ima qoute METHOD MAN FROM THE 8 DIAGRAMS ALBUM "Unlike these lil corner store n***** go change your drawers N*****!" This album gives me hope for the rap game! The rap album of the year n the best rap I've heard n almost 3 years! Ever since that punk lil started polluting the game n no talent piece of crap like soulja boy makin a disgrace of rap. In comes Red n Meth to the rescue! The intro let's u know they are back the rap cheech n chong r n the building! So what if they still rap bout weed n good p****! My favorite rapper Andre Nickatina still raps bout cocaine n u don't hear me complaining cuz what it comes down to is LYRICS!!! N Red n Meth have them n spades homie! I guarantee u will Laugh n smile at the clever punchlines Red n Meth spit N the Beats R top notch as well! There r only 2 songs I don't care for n they R Lil Bit- I heard it once n that's all it took thankfully this is at the very end of the album, I hate the hook its not what Red n Meth r about I Kno Sumptin- Not a very good beat at all it ruins their flows but the flows r on point if only it had aother beat. Now the best tracks r definitely Dangerous mcs(best one especially when Redman says "no 1 can stop me then he does the Rocky theme music lol like Rocky!) Diz Iz 4 All My Smokers Bo 2 Intro I'm Dope N**** Mrs International 4 Min til Lockdown Hey Zulu(put it n the air)! Ayo(very very nice beat, perfect lyrics) Fathers day(super smooth beat 2nd best song kinda short though) City Lights(U know Red n Meth had to get chopped n screwed one time with Bun B) How bout that- (Method man comes off hella hard on this 1) Errybody Scream-(Meth n Keith Murray kill it!) Neva Herd Diz b4- Sickest beat on the album n Red n Meth kill it Lyrically top notch) Bottom line get this album there is still hope 4 the rap game I thought rap couldn't be saved but Red n Meth prove me wrong there are still great rappers out there!!!

This CD just came out of nowhere for me since I didn't expect them to release a part 2, but this is dope. The lead single with Bun B and the Pimp C hook is classic and the whole CD has that dope chemistry that red and meth have and others do not. The production is on some nice and smooth tip, a little commercial, but I appreciate it when done right. Not many wack songs on this one and something your girl will dig as well. Hopefully they won't wait as long for Part 3!

Blackout 2,

Simply put, Blackout 2 pales in comparison to Blackout 1. It did however have a few good songs, but considering the first one was possibly one of the best hip-hop cds of all time, this one is not even close!

Every lyric is on point, the best live performers in the business have plenty of material here that I'll be enjoying for the next 10 years. Beautiful, this and relapse are going to kill my ability to listen to sub-par hip hop for a while. Too bad Universal is refusing to fund a 2nd how high
