4.0 out of 5 stars Blackout is a Knockout
I saw this when it came out on HBO. A great little suspense thriller about a man who was in a car accident and is completely disfigured and has amnesia to boot. He tries to make a new life for himself with the nurse who is taking care of him and eventually falls in love with him. But there are problems, like her former boyfriend, a cop who is not happy with their break...

I saw this when it came out on HBO. A great little suspense thriller about a man who was in a car accident and is completely disfigured and has amnesia to boot. He tries to make a new life for himself with the nurse who is taking care of him and eventually falls in love with him. But there are problems, like her former boyfriend, a cop who is not happy with their break up, and a detective who is trying to solve a murder from several years ago. Keith Carradine is great as the man who starts a "new" life from scratch, not sure where to go from his hospital bed. Richard Widmark is wonderful as the haunted detective with a thirst for revenge, Michael Beck is functional as the jilted cop, and Kathleen Quinlan is perfect as the nervous wife who doesn't know who her husband really is prior to his accident. You will not be disappointed in this movie.

This movie, though rather old, was very good. It was full of Mystery , suspense, and action. And Richard Widmark plays a brilliant acting role.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good minor thriller, March 22, 2005
This review is from: Blackout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Seven years after losing his memory ,not to mention his identity and original appearance ,as the result of an automaobile accident Keith Carradine has built a new life for himself with wife Kathleen Quinlan near Seattle.Quinal had been his nurse at the hospital where he received treatment and Carradine is unable to remember anything about his life prior to the accideny .

Enter Richard Widmarkas a former cop who claims Carradine is " Ed Vincent " a man who brutally slew his wife and children and then vanished at around the time of the accident .Then nasty and unexplained things begin happening that keep us guessing about what is really going on and as to just how true are Widmark's accusations .

This is a well made thriller with an intriguing plot and has characters who are more plausible and fully rounded than is usual in this type of movie .Writing ,performances and direction are all solid and professional and allied to good production values these all contribute to a minor but potent thriller that does its job more than adequately

3.0 out of 5 stars Suspense you can stir with a spoon, February 18, 2002

If memory serves me correctly, this film was a made-for production on HBO back in 1985. The cast is top-notch, and the story plays on serial killers from the '70's and early '80's. I won't reveal the entire plot, but I will say that this is a somewhat disturbing picture to watch. Especially while alone in the dark. I recommend viewing this movie with at least another person in the room. Just make sure you know that person well, and that your telephone is off the hook...

4.0 out of 5 stars Thriller, June 24, 2011
This review is from: Blackout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
What can I say? I too like this movie and actually have it on vhs and was hoping to find it on DVD after all this time it isn't.
The acting is very good and I love Kathleen Quinlin and Richard Widmark has been around a long time and he was good in Coma and is equally good in this film.I just wish some of the good thrillers of the past was on DVD. Come on sombody what was old can become new again. What I want everyone to know it is a good movie and I don't think you would regret it and a nice way to spend a friday or saturday night with this movie.
