For current or future law students Black's Law Dictionary is an essential reference book for your library, and as one of my professors told me, "if you don't want an abridged education, don't buy the abridged version." You'll also gain access to an online version of Black's through any Westlaw account, but it's one version behind, and the UI isn't as easy to navigate. I think the hardcover dictionary is worth the money. Finally, a word about the Deluxe Edition: no. I can't see paying almost double for what it offers. My advice is to stick with the Standard Edition.

I usually have this dictionary next to me when I'm studying. I rarely take it with me, as it's huge....But nonetheless I would recommend this version or at the very least the pocket edition if you're about to start law school. It's very helpful for words that you don't know, and words that you thought you knew until you realized they had a different meaning. Buy it. It's an investment.

I do a lot of legal translations from Norwegian to English. I find Black's an invaluable tool with which to work, and which gives me an accurate description of legal concepts and terms.
I have worked with Black's for a good number of years, and would not be without the Dictionary in my extensive library.

Thank you for carrying Black's, since my usual bookshop in Norway could not find it on their lists.

Finally got around to updating my Black's. Must say, it is well worth it and then some. If you
have not updated, this is worth the money. You'll be pleased. My '68 edition is, well, you know. Recommened.

I didn't check all 1900+ pages of this Black's Law Dictionary but now, 2 weeks past the allowed 30 day return period, I find my book is missing pages 113 - 208. Buyer beware! I called the publisher, West/Thomson Reuters, 1-800-344-5008. They will not back their product - another buyer beware red flag. The book was bought on Amazon,NEW, 7 weeks ago. I have my receipt.

I wonder how many other Thomson Reuters books are out there missing pages? They don't seem to know - apparently they do not have a Quality Assurance department. Bottom line - they don't back their products, even when defective.
