Do you need the Hardcover edtion?
As a beginning law student, I've heard over and over again about how Black's is virtually a required book for all law students (and rightfully so). I ran out this summer and bought the hardcover book. As school is now underway, I've had to buy the paperback as well. I'm not lugging that huge book to class everyday! Just a tip so that you don't invest as much $$ as...

Tool of the trade but needs to be on a CD
Without question, Black's is the quintessential dictionary for lawyers, paralegals and others involved with the legal trade. Foolishly, it is not available in electronic format (a' la CD). There is a critical need for that. Forget the overpriced 7th edition released in Fall 1999. It is not worth $20 more.

bLACK'S lAW DICTIONARY HELPS DEFINE THE MEANING OF WORDS AND CONCEPTS USED IN LAW. THE LAW LANGUAGE IS PURPOSEFULLY DECEPTIVE TO KEEP THE GENERAL PUBLIC FROM UNDERSTANDING AND THEREFOR USING THE LAW OR FEELING COMFORTABLE IN A COURT OF LAW. THIS BOOK NEEDS TO BE ON EVERYONES SHELF.

This is a helpful book of law terms. I am doing some various study, and it is helpful to have this available. I also am starting the Jurisdictionary package to help my learning. All in all, glad to have made the purchase of this version, as new ones tend to dilute previous information.

Black's Law Dictionary should be a required purchase for college freshmen, especially criminal justice majors. This book will be utilized on numerous occassions in an academic career and will continue its usefulness well into the student's professional career.
