For current or future law students Black's Law Dictionary is an essential reference book for your library, and as one of my professors told me, "if you don't want an abridged education, don't buy the abridged version." You'll also gain access to an online version of Black's through any Westlaw account, but it's one version behind, and the UI isn't as easy to navigate. I think the hardcover dictionary is worth the money. Finally, a word about the Deluxe Edition: no. I can't see paying almost double for what it offers. My advice is to stick with the Standard Edition.

I usually have this dictionary next to me when I'm studying. I rarely take it with me, as it's huge....But nonetheless I would recommend this version or at the very least the pocket edition if you're about to start law school. It's very helpful for words that you don't know, and words that you thought you knew until you realized they had a different meaning. Buy it. It's an investment.

I do a lot of legal translations from Norwegian to English. I find Black's an invaluable tool with which to work, and which gives me an accurate description of legal concepts and terms.
I have worked with Black's for a good number of years, and would not be without the Dictionary in my extensive library.

Thank you for carrying Black's, since my usual bookshop in Norway could not find it on their lists.

Finally got around to updating my Black's. Must say, it is well worth it and then some. If you
have not updated, this is worth the money. You'll be pleased. My '68 edition is, well, you know. Recommened.

This book is a very good source for legal terminology and ease of use at a very reasonable price.

Blacks Law Dictionary is the MUST HAVE for anyone going into the legal profession whether it be a lawyer or a paralegal. It contains hundreds of terms that you wouldn't find in a normal dictionary and is very easy to navigate, saving me quicker than even a Google search for a term! I love the leather cover as well.

Every great lawyer I know has one of these laying around the office and is a must for any law student. Delivery was very fast and the book is top notch quality.
