Men can be addicted,
By Gregory W. Bryant "Publisher/author" (Greensboro, NC United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Black's Trilogy: Book I: Black's Obsession (Paperback)
Author acVernon Menchan has written a very intriguing book about one Man's obsession for a woman for more than 30 years. The novel "Black's Trilogy (Book 1: Black's Obsession)" is the story of how a man (Black) can allow the obsession of a woman become detrimental to his life. The woman (Cinnamon) seems to be the total woman with everyone wanting to be in her shoes. She has the burden of having the love of two men (Brown which happens to be Black's best friend and her husband). The pit falls of Black's obsession surely complicates his relationships with any woman he encounters. The ending makes you crave for book 2 of this saga. I can honestly say that the storyline and the characters are very very good and the progression of the story sets up for the next book. Though I was very pleased with the story I was a little disappointed with the editing. I could understand spell check errors but the punctuation and the word usage was something I could not totally dismissed. Even with the editing problems I still recommend this book. I did enjoy it very much. This book would have easily garnished a 4 rating from me but due to the editing it slips to a 3. Do I suggest you still get this book? Oh, most definitely because it sets up for a second book that this author/publisher thinks will be a total success. acVernon keep doing your thing for you are a great writer.

I thoroughly enjoyed Black's obsession. Actually, I've read the complete trilogy. Can't believe a sister from my hometown can write that well. I'm very impressed! Can't wait to read her future books.

Obsession,

This review is from: Black's Trilogy: Book I: Black's Obsession (Paperback)
In the first of three books in this series, BLACK'S TRILOGY: Book I, Black's Obsession readers are introduced to Black, a man who has made his own place in life and didn't forget about where he came from. He fell in love with Cinnamon very early in life, but they never connected on a level that would enable them to explore a relationship other than friendship. Black would spend the next thirty years on the sidelines observing Cinnamon from afar as she becomes someone else's woman. Any relationship he enters is doomed from the beginning because no woman can measure up to Cinnamon. His attempt at marriage eventually fails because his wife is not Cinnamon.
In BLACK'S TRILOGY, acVernon Menchan has crafted a rather intense account of one man's abiding love for someone that has him settling for crumbs. He experiences a love that transcends all things, yet leaves him unable to have it all to himself. Overall, I liked this story particularly from the male's perspective; however, the book read more like a biography rather than fiction as it is narrated entirely by the main character. I only got to know the other characters through his voice. Also, I felt the book would have benefited from more editing. There were just too many obvious grammatical and typographical errors as well as misused words situated throughout that enticed my focus away from the story at times. With that said, I am still interested to know where the author goes with the second book in this trilogy. Reviewed by Brenda M. Lisbon of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

How a man really loves a woman,
By Man in Love (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black's Trilogy: Book I: Black's Obsession (Paperback)
This is an excellent example of how a man can love a woman and not allow anything to stop that love. I would love to see this in a movie. I am waiting patiently for part 2 & 3 of this trilogy.

I like this book beacuse it showed a man who was head over heels in love with a women who but all standads was perfect. It left me wanting the second book which I think will be out in the fall although I do not want wait that long I will have to. The names were funny to me black, brown and red. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a love story and be careful what you ask for you may get it may not be the way you want it but you just may get it.
