5.0 out of 5 stars The Blacksmith: Ironworker & Farrier by Aldren A Watson, April 16, 2001
By
Richard W Mustonen (Oak Park, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Blacksmith: Ironworker and Farrier (Paperback)
Having purchased other titles by this Author, I was not disappointed when I opened this book. The illustrations were excellent, and the author presents the reader with a good description of the various skills of the Blacksmith. The Farrier information was very interesting as well as the Iron Working subjects, my main reason for buying this book was the Blacksmithing, and this book did not let me down. I have other Blacksmithing books that go into more details about techniques, but anyone who may have even the slightest interst in this trade of Blacksmithing either as a Profession or a hobby, will not be disappointed with the purchase of this book. It would be a fine addition to any Metal Working library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent starter book, December 8, 2001
This review is from: The Blacksmith: Ironworker and Farrier (Paperback)
This is the first Blacksmith book that I have purchased, and I havne't been disapointed. In fact I am pleased that I bought the book every time I go back and open it up (which I do quite a bit). It's rich with detailed illustrations by the author, and full of historical information about the 19th century smith, some of which is presented in a story-like fashion.
I have used this book for references, ideas for projects, and of course building a forge. The chapters on building a forge and a leather lung bellows is fantastic and better than most books on the subject. This is worth it, definately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, same as Village Blacksmith, May 24, 2010

Ordered this because I have his book The Village Blacksmith, love it, and thought this one would have more good info. It's the same book though, just a different title - so I gave it to the farrier. A little disappointed that it wasn't a new book, but not a big deal.
