5.0 out of 5 stars Epic Music
This is one of only three CD's I've ever owned where I've actually been overcome with emotion while listening to it. Unlike the others, however, Blackwood has been able to do that with each song. I've literally sat and cried while listening to some tracks, and felt a sort of overcoming inner peace with others. No other single piece of artistry has ever brought out so much...

You know how it is when you are looking for totally new music? Sometimes you lay your $20 bill on the counter and just take a chance. Sometimes you find something completely new and inspiring in New Age. Sometimes, particularly with New Age, you just lose. Well, with "Blackwood", I just lost. Sure, Tia Knight has perhaps two good cuts on the CD. I'll give her credit for...

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic Music, July 6, 2001

This is one of only three CD's I've ever owned where I've actually been overcome with emotion while listening to it. Unlike the others, however, Blackwood has been able to do that with each song. I've literally sat and cried while listening to some tracks, and felt a sort of overcoming inner peace with others. No other single piece of artistry has ever brought out so much of my own creativity, and sparked such imaginations as this CD. If you don't yet own this CD, and are even remotely interested in any sort of new age, trance, or ambient music: what are you waiting for?

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Beauty, April 14, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Blackwood (Audio CD)
Tia'a music is a joy and an inspiration. It brings out my creativity when I'm feeling artistically blocked and whisks me away to a land of unfettered dreams where anything I can imagine is possible. Blackwood is a unique blend of dark beauty and the quiet hope of an artist's passion. I encourage other artists and every music lover to share the magic of Blackwood!

Listening to Tia's music is like climbing aboard a magic carpet, as it enters your mind and carries one to distant times of magic and mystery, of things both beautiful and haunting. Hypnotic and strangely addicting, it's sure to quickly become a staple of your cd collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars such a marvel, January 10, 2004
This review is from: Blackwood (Audio CD)
Pagan in Paradise, October 30, 2003 "Witches Brew" is perfectly blended ingredients of mystical sound. Why such a marvel is offered for free download is beyond me. This is one of those rare songs that would have induced me to by the whole album just to get. I still may, because experience has shown that a gem such as this rarely is alone in its setting.

I'll give her credit for that much. The rest of the music? Ouch! Rather than focusing on the fundamentals of Music Theory 101, she had to see what kind of sounds her electronic instruments were capable of making. The result sounds like the mating of two Maytag washing machines. It's souless and silly. Rarely do I throw a CD in the trash can. Regretfully, this time I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars reaching for repeat!, November 20, 2005
This review is from: Blackwood (Audio CD)
From the eerie "Witches Brew" to the somberly elegant and striking "Loss," Tia Knight provides an intriguing range of ambient instrumentals with a medieval tone. "Bringer" opens percussively, with a pulsing beat that continues through the composition. "Vertigo" is another percussive exploration, this one in a more subtle, muted range, yet also with a catchy rhythm that will get listeners wanting to move. Then "Staircase" offers rising keyboard crescendos and horn fanfares, while "Sticks-n-Stones" explores a darker ambient sound that would make effective theme music for events portrayed in an ominous setting. In her description, the artist likens it to "black widows dancing across the moon." The harpsichord on "Raindance" is an effectively atmospheric touch. In all, Blackwood is an enjoyable debut for fans of ambient music, and will have listeners reaching for repeat!

5.0 out of 5 stars mesmerizing, November 20, 2005
This review is from: Blackwood (Audio CD)
I just discovered Tia Knight's music and never has music affected me the way "Blackwood" has. It is mesmerizing, soul deep and brought me to tears, which is very rare for music to do that for me. I intend to by her other CD and continue to be a fan.
