**UPDATE**************************************************************************************
Please see below my original first impressions of the Blade MQX. While most of what I said still holds true, I thought it would be fair to come back and add my thoughts after about 30 flights. Here we go:

If you have never flown a quadcopter before, this will be a fun treat, but takes time and practice for the movements to become natural and second-nature. You are going to break parts, so you might as well order spares out of the gate. I recommend that you at least order one pack of thruster booms (it comes in a two pack) and a spare hull. You would be even better off to order extra landing gear and sprocket as well.

Now that I have a ton of practice with my Blade MQX, I find myself looking forward to flying it each day and have become bored with my RC helicopters now. In fact, the MQX has made me want to build a custom quadrotor.

Now that I have more flight experience, here's the bottom line:

If you are prepared to buy a few spare parts and to be patient as you learn, the Blade MQX is a BLAST!

**ORIGINAL REVIEW*****************************************************************************

I just got my Blade MQX--my first quadrotor--today and have had about 30 minutes of flight time, so keep that in mind as you read this review.

BACKGROUND
I got my Blade MQX as RTF with the included controller, from Amazon, for about $190 (it was on sale). I have been infatuated with mini RC helicopters for about 6 weeks and have never owned a quadrotor before this one. The mini RC helis are so much fun because they are cheap, easy to fly, and forgiving/durable.

I am a 60 yr old guy who just got into RC Helicopters. I bought the Blade mQX quad a few months ago and it's still ALIVE!!!!!
Being a beginner this machine should have died a terrible death from crashes weeks ago, but it's like the Ever Ready Bunny it just keeps on keeping on.
Durable is an understatement.
I do recommend learning outside on a grassy surface...helps w/ crashes. And I have replaced a few parts, but it's well made.
It's Fast, Responsive, and way FUN. I just learned how to do flips and barrel rolls. Really !
Did I mention way Fun?

I have several quads, I wanted to have some fun indoors and the binding to my radio was easy . Ok there is where it stops being regular micro drone, the other day I decided to take it outside, a little windy and got this thing up to about 300 feet with a micro camera attached to the bottom and that is where I messed up. The wind took it and it plunged into a large pond sinking right away :o( It was submersed for at least 5 minutes, trashed the mini cam and I thought the drone as well WRONG!! When I got it out of the water the light was on! I quickly unplugged the battery and took it home where it dried off over night and all day while I was at work I came home and plugged it in and it works flawless!! incredible! just incredible!

The Blade MQX is a flying remote controlled toy that is commonly referred to as "quadcopter." It is insanely fun to fly, but requires some experience before you can fly without crashing.

The MQX is available in two versions. The "RTF" (Ready to Fly) version includes a very basic remote control.

The "BNF" (Bind-N-Fly) version comes without a remote control, and is intended for people who already own a Spektrum remote control. Spektrum makes a wide variety of remote controls that can be used with a wide variety of Blade brand helicopters and E-flite brand remote controlled airplanes. I use the Spektrum DX6i, which you can buy from Amazon.com for $139.99. It can remember ten different planes/helis at once, has a very nice display, and includes a timer, which is helpful to prevent crashes due to dead batteries. If you buy two of the DX6i, you can even connect them together and put them in training mode, which allows you to give and take control from another controller when you're teaching someone else how to fly.

Both the BNF and RTF versions include the MQX Quadcopter, a single battery, a single battery charger, and a user manual with a diagram that shows how all the parts go together and (more importantly) what each part is called. Each battery yields about ten minutes of flight time.

The MQX is a quad-copter because it has four independent motors that operate four independent blades. It flies by adjusting the speed of the blades to allow it to pitch forward and back, roll left and right, and to yaw (turn) left and right.

The MQX includes a stabilization system that Blade uses on its mid-level helicopters. It flies very well in no to light wind.

This thing rocks! When it arrived, I started charging the battery and read the brief instructions. Then my son (age 9) and I took it out for a try. We have very little RC helicopter experience. On that first battery charge, we were able to successfully fly the MQX. Now, we weren't doing flips (yet), but we were able to launch it off each other's head (this was not in the Manual). That battery lasted about 15 minutes and we certainly tested its durability. I crashed it 3-4 times, and it just keeps going. By the second battery, we were practicing different flight moves and took it up so high it looked like a tiny water spider. The control on it is extremely responsive. I did crash it one time bad enough to bend a propeller, so I replaced it with the include replacement prop, and it just kept flying. I just ordered some more props and 2 more batteries. If you are even remotely ;=)thinking about getting this, do it, you won't be disappointed.
