Book Description

August 5, 1998
From New Line Cinema, distributors of such big-screen sensations as The Mash, Mortal Kombat, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, comes the movie event of the summer. Wesley Snipes stars as Blade, the DayWalker, born in violence, neither human nor vampire -- but both. Trained as an instrument of vengeance by a scientist, and using his awesome powers and razor-sharp weaponry, he is pitted in a deadly struggle against the vampire overlord Deacon Frost, who is bent on bringing about an apocalypse known in legends as The Blood Tide. Aided by a beautiful woman doctor, Blade battles against the Dark Ones in a lonely and thrilling crusade to protect humankind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great expression of feeling. My fave. book., February 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Blade (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved how it expanded the feelings of the characters. It showed me another side of Deacon Frost. In the movie I thought he was so cool, but now I realize that he has bad sides too. I loved the suspense that occured in the Temple of the night with the two occurings which were Blade sucking Karen's blood and Deacon Frost under the drop of blood falling from the ceiling. I like how the book tells you what the names of the people are because before I read the book I thought Mercury's name was Raquel. (I was Mercury for Halloween and was saying I was Raquel.) The ending of the book was so much better than the ending of the movie. It was extremely suspenseful and I think another book should be made and hopefully with that another movie. I am still on the vampire's side though. The movie was my second fave. movie and I have seen it four times. I love the book very much. I guess that is about as much praise as I can give the book. I couldn't keep from reading the next chapter once I finished one. It is one of the few books I would read more than once.A lot more than once. I cannot waait to read it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent adaption of the movie. Gives insight into hero., August 29, 1998
This review is from: Blade (Mass Market Paperback)
This adaption of the now hit movie moves at a quick pace, as the movie does. I enjoyed the detail of the weaponry and history of the clans of vampires that obviously could not be detailed in the movie. The author also faithfully captures the moods of each scene effectivelly while still giving us the chills and excitement of the characters and all their strengths and weaknesses. Highlights would be the discussion of the EDTA darts as well as the opening sequence in the club. The detail and attention to finite points are impressive. All in all you probably get twice your moneys worth and this is the type of book you will want to reread after a few weeks...excellent! 5.0 out of 5 stars BLADE KICKS ASS, April 27, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Blade (Mass Market Paperback)
Blade was a kick ass book, completely different from the movie. The movie had more fighting and you didn't get to see the true meaning of the novel. The movie described Blade as a cold blooded slayer with no mercy. The novel describes Blade as someone who risks his life everyday to save the human race in spite of the fact that the human race thinks he's a murderer and wants him dead. He uses his powers to serve and protect the very species that depises and fears him-our own. He has the power of an immortal, the soul of a human, and the heart of a hero.
