4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff
This product does what it says it will do. In my case it has increased the life of a Gillette Sensor II blade from one week to four. I could probably push it farther but have not tried. I'm very happy with the results. I've been using it for about two months. Only complaint is the stick does not seal very tight so I am careful to store it standing up.

1.0 out of 5 stars Snake Oil Would Be A More Accurate Description. Worse Than Nothing.
I purchased this product in the hopes that it would make my razor blades last longer, which is what the product claims to do. Sadly this is not the case at all. Really convienent and useful for shavers. I use this with my CleanCut blades which are very small, very sharp and delicate. The angled head not only oils the blades to keep them in good order, but also helps me clean up whatever was missed by the brush cleaning. Has a controlled flow so you don't have to worry about excessive dripping, just pump the sponge once or twice by pressing down and your tip is well oiled and ready for application without a big mess.

I purchased this product in the hopes that it would make my razor blades last longer, which is what the product claims to do. Sadly this is not the case at all. When it came in the mail I was surprised at the anemic size of the bottle. It is very, very small (about the size of the first knuckle on my thumb -yes it is that small). It appears to contain a very small amount of mineral oil in a simple dropper bottle. I could have picked up a quart of the stuff and a dropper bottle at my local store for less than half of what I paid for 0.5 ounces and I would have been much better off, if it only worked. After reading their "clinically proven to double blade life" claim, I decided to test it out for myself. I tried shaving with my razor like I always do without using the oil and see how many shaves I got before my razor started to irritate my skin and become dull. I was able to shave 10 times without the oil. Next I tried using the oil. This time it lasted 6 shaves before becoming dull. I tried this again several times and got similar results each time. The pattern was obvious. Use the oil and get FEWER shaves or don't use it and get more.

It is shameful that they sell you such an anemic amount for such a high price. It is even more shameful that it makes my razor wear out faster instead of lasting longer like they claim.

I will be avoiding this manufacturer and all their products in the future after this experience.

Original Review:

The oil works as advertised. I was able to use a single razor blade (double-edged safety razor) for 3 weeks before I felt there was even a remote need to replace it (shaving every other day). I've been using it for a month now and its hard to gauge how long a single tube will last. Given how cheap razor blades are and that the oil is $10, it may not be cost effective on double-edged safety razors. I'll find out when I actually finish the tube. I would definitely recommend people who use multi-blade razors (e.g. Fusion, Mach 3) to try it once as the cost of replacement cartridges jumps and see how you like it.

Updated Review:

The above review was for the first iteration of the product. Now, do not purchase. The oil is still the same, but they have now removed the built in applicator. It used to let you apply the oil as if you were using a highlighter. I'm guessing the efficiency of the applicator was costing the company too many sales because now it is a mess to apply and even less cost effective than before (and it was already questionable if you read my review). The bottle is hard plastic so you can't reliably "squeeze" out the amount of oil you want to apply and you need to smear it on with your finger, which ultimately is a lot less effective than the applicator. The original idea of the oil was sound so I will probably try using baby oil once I finish this bottle because without the built in applicator, it's the same difference in terms of applying the oil to the blade.

It is of course difficult to measure the effectiveness of this without a scientific study. It appears to give more life to the blade. I am sure there is someone out there with more time and ambition than I have at the moment.
