Val Roberts has been a historical re-enactor, typesetter, journalist, analytical chemist, Y2K consultant, electronics design technician, event planner and technical writer. Oh, forget the third person, already!

Anyway, the eclectic background turned out to be good preparation for writing science fiction romance, since every story I start eventually has science fiction and romance in it. Maybe I really wanted to be a mad scientist but couldn't get grant money for taking over the world. Who knows?

I live in my hometown with a spooky disabled vet, my husband of nearly 20 years (when did we get that old?), and our five furry children. I'm still not sure how we ended up with four cats, but Spooky man is a mammal attractor, and one of the cats is nearly out of her teens.

I love stories about human people in times and places that only exist in my head, where anything can happen and usually does.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one.....it did not rely on sex and more sex so I did not feel like a voyeur in someone's bed...just wish there were more scenes that included the cougar...worth the $$$

Just finished Val Roberts newest title, Blade's Edge, and enjoyed it. I found this sci-fi adventure/romance to be a very worthwhile. The Zonan heroine, Taryn Penthes is the 'spare' twin in her family monarchy, and her older sister is out to kill her. Really, relentlessly out to kill her. Hero Blade Von Stassos from the rival kingdom of Bariani is out to keep her alive. In the midst of this there is plenty of royal intrigue, alien culture clash, and a couple of intelligent villans. Fans of George R. R. Martin will enjoy the politial bent, and the Robert Jordan fans will appreciate the adventure. There's conflicts galore, and good characterization of unique characters. A good read.
