Just trying to help.,
This review is from: Blades of Glory (Audio CD)
I do not own this album, but I gave it 4 stars because the music on it is fairly good. I almost bought this album in order to get the song that Jimmy McElroy skates to in the first skating scene, but that song is not on this album. So I did some research and located the song and I thought I would share it with anyone else looking for it. It is: Time To Say Goodbye by Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli.

Savior of the Universe?!,
This review is from: Blades of Glory (Audio CD)
First off, I don't own this item. I gave it three stars because it still contains several of the songs that were in the movie, but the one I really wanted was the Flash Gordon Theme by Queen. Where is it? Not only was it in the movie but it featured prominently. This song alone was going to cause me to buy this soundtrack, and the fact that the song is missing has really turned me off from the whole thing.

This CD was not worth the purchase price. I loved the movie and thought the soundtrack would make a nice addition to my collection. The only
good song on the CD is the movie theme song, BLADES OF GLORY; sung by Bo Bice.

Bo Bice's magnificent title track is destined to become a classic!,

After I heard Bo Bice's magnificent rendition of the title track, I decided I just HAD to have this CD. Bo sings this hilarious song so earnestly and with such power... I feel compelled to listen to it over and over again! His voice just soars. On youtube, you can watch the music video of Bo singing "Blades of Glory" while hamming it up at a grand piano--in a powder blue tux, no less! Ben Stiller picked the perfect person to sing the title song for this movie because nobody could carry it off like Bo Bice does. I think this song is destined to become a classic.
I'm actually enjoying the entire album. Many of the songs make me want to move and dance, so I may just use this CD to exercise by. I was tempted to give it five stars for the title track alone, but I've decided to give it four stars because I'm not crazy about hearing spoken lines from the movie between the songs (is that commonly done for soundtracks nowadays?). I liked the movie and all the music on this album, but those spoken lines get a little old after awhile because I play the album often. In the movie itself, I particularly loved the gorgeous song by Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli, so I was disappointed that it was not included on the CD. But the title track alone makes up for any of those minor shortcomings, and there's other good music on this album, so I recommend this CD as well worth the price!

Bo Bice is Great, but Sarah Brightman is Missing,
By JamesNYC "JamesNYC" (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews

The highlight of this soundtrack is Bo Bice's title track. Bice's song, which plays at the end of the film as the credits roll, is the main reason to purchase this compact disc.
This soundtrack does not include the tunes that McElroy (John Heder) and Michaels (Will Ferrel) skated to in the film: Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" and Queen's "Flash" - probably because both tunes are from other soundtracks. Nor does it include the beautiful number that starts out the film: Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli's "Time to Say Good-Bye." If you haven't seen the film yet, SEE IT! It ranks up there with comedies like "Animal House" and "Caddyshack."

For me, the only song worth owning on this album is "Dance Sucka" by T Ray, but they do not let you just purchase this particular track on MP3 (album only.) Ditto for iTunes as well.
Not to mention the absence of "Flash Gordon" . Very frustrating.

I LOVE soundtracks ...
I love the variety of the songs and the artists. I love that the music reminds me of the movie(s). I love getting ALL THE SONGS IN THE MOVIE ... wait, that doesn't actually happen. Such is the case with this soundtrack. Now, granted, I know it's gotta be a difficult job getting all the permissions of the artists to put the songs on the soundtrack but ... COME ON!!!! I mean, really, the artists DO get "royalties" for each and every CD purchased - why deny us? How can Queen's "Flash Gordon" NOT be on this?!?! It was the music to THE pivotal scene in the movie!! The song Jimmy skated to in the beginning ... "Time To Say Goodbye" by Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli ... WHY is it NOT on here?!? The song Jimmy and Chaz skated to in their first performance together ... Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" ... missing. Bo Bice does a FANTASTIC job singing the theme song, so at least there's that. However, it truly is the MISSING music that bums me out and THAT is why I give it (4) stars and not (5).

Just to hear Bo Bice sing that title track with that full, glorious voice, it's worth the price of the entire CD.

Bo Bice Shines!,
This review is from: Blades of Glory (Audio CD)
The movie is fun, but the title track truly captures the entire campy, tongue-in-cheek spirit of Will Ferrell and "Blades of Glory." This song's lyrics are brilliantly funny, and the musical style transports me back to big-hair ballads of the 80's. However, the absolute best thing about the soundtrack is Bo Bice. This man can seriously sing--even when he's not being serious. Brilliant choice to perform this song, and the video they created is over the top. Gotta love the cheesy powder blue tuxedo on such a sexy man...
