Book Description

Is There Really a Fountain of Youth in Paradise?

Welcome back to Bright’s Pond, where strange happenings are afoot at the
Greenbrier Nursing Home.

The folks have suddenly grown younger,
happier, and even a bit friskier thanks to Leon Fontaine, the newest Paradise Trailer Park
resident. But Mildred Blessing is suspicious and sets out to investigate while the wedding to
end all weddings is being planned.

Only, in Bright’s Pond, nothing ever
really goes as planned . . .

"What's better than Bright's Pond?
Bright's Pond at Christmas time. Magnin hasn't just created characters--she's created friends
you'll love spending time with. You'll love every page of this quirky delight, and when that
last chapter is read, you'll be ready for more of Griselda and the rest of the Bright's Pond
residents." - Jenny B. Jones, Award-winning author of romantic comedies such as" Save the Date"
and A Charmed Life series

"The queen of quirk does it again. With her signature wit and
charm and penchant for surprise, Joyce Magnin takes us on a leisurely read through Bright's
Pond, where uncannily loveable chaeracters reside -- God in the midst of them. I want to move
there." - Nancy Rue, author of The Reluctant Prophet

"Creative and fun,
a visit to Bright 's Pond for the Holidays is just what the doctor ordered. Who can resist spry
octogenarians in hot pursuit of the Fountain of Youth or romance in trouble But it is the
endearing thread of love and sympathy that runs through the characters that makes readers
return." - Cathy Gohlke, Christy Award winning author of William Henry is a Fine Name and I Have
Seen Him in the Watchfires

5.0 out of 5 stars Make Your Heart Happy September 18, 2011
Format:Paperback
Welcome back to Bright's Pond where the residents make even your strangest relatives seem normal.

What's going on at the Greenbriar Nursing home? Resident's riding trikes down the halls? Seniors making out in the gazebo? This is strange even by Bright's Pond standards. Who or what could be responsible? Is it the fault of the new gazeebo, or the strange elusive man who built it for the residents? Maybe it's drugs or something in the water. Police chief Mildred Blessing has her hands full trying to solve this one.

Meanwhile elsewhere in Bright's Pond folks must contend with a luau thanksgiving, a Christmas pageant with live camels and the on again off again romance between Griselda and Zeb. Do I hear wedding bells?

Though lighthearted, this book is no ball of fluff. It is well written and entertaining. It will leave you laughing, and feeling just a little bit better about your own life. The delightfuly quirky characters, like none you've ever imagined, are so real you'll feel like you've always known them.

As with the first three books in this series, this is a 5 star read. If you haven't read the others (The Prayers of Agnes Sparrow, Charlotte Figg Takes Over Paradise, and Griselda Takes Flight), you must do so. You'r life will be fuller from having read them.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions rendered are my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blame it on the Mistletoe by Joyce Magnin January 3, 2012
Format:Paperback
Blame it on the Mistletoe is certainly a delightful story that just about everyone will enjoy reading. The little Pennsylvania town of Bright's Pond is the home of many diverse personalities each with a story to tell. Griselda Sparrow is a middle-aged lady who is just beginning to discover her wings. Agnes is Griselda's sister who has suffered from being morbidly obese and was moved into the Greebrier Nursing Home by way of a forklift. Griselda is taking flying lessons from Cliff Cardwell and she is questioning herself about her feelings for Cliff and also for her long time boyfriend Zeb Sewickey. There is quite a lot of strange things going on at the nursing home with elderly residents riding tricycles and smooching in the crooked gazebo that was built by a slightly odd little fellow named Leon Fontaine, who some people are beginning to suspect may be the source of a fountain of youth.

This book was provided to me to read and review by the publisher Abingdon Press and Net Galley.
