Biography

Talib Kweli was born Talib Kweli Greene in New York in 1975. He is a leading light in the alternative hip-hop scene which provides a different approach to mainstream gangsta rap and pop rap and its pre-occupations with 'nines' and bling.

Kweli and schoolfriend Mos Def formed Black Star, along with producer and DJ Hi Tek, in 1998. Black Star, along with bands including De La Soul and A Tribe Called… Read more in Amazon's Talib Kweli Store

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS SONG, April 29, 2002
This review is from: Blast (Audio CD)
Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek's album "Reflection Eternal" may have been slept on by the masses-unfortuanly,since it was without a doubt,
a masterpiece-but I've always felt that album's second single,"The Blast"!
Every since I heard this song back in Fall 2000,I've always loved it.
Hi-Tek always comes with 'tight' beats and Talib's consious, affirmative flow is equally tight.Altough we could do without-in my opinion-the Destiny Child refrence on the song, his rhymes are tight(I keep saying that word, huh?) But I don't know what to say.I love this song so much. But I was kind of salty when I heard SoSo Def's R&B vocalist/former Lauryn Hill background vocalist Fundisha sing over the beat on her Jermaine Dupri produced single "Live The Life".But then again, the beat is so TIGHT(I said it again!) that you don't really mind it after a while."Gotta keep on dancin'...Gotta keep on dancin'".

P.S:The video is equally tight but didn't get enough play!

4.0 out of 5 stars worth it for the different version, June 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Blast (Audio CD)
this is only a three song record, but good for true hip-hop heads who appreciate the affirmative realness.
