4.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Mix of Punk Rock and 70's Glam, December 8, 1999
By
This review is from: Blastronaut (Audio CD)
Get out your platform boots and frizz out your hair because Glam Rock didnt die with Marc Bolan. This great album recalls all the best moments of Raw Power, Electric Warrior and Aladdin Sane. The Lee Harvey Oswald Band, a side project of a well-disguised Rick Sims (formerly of the Didjits and Supersuckers) , brings back the power chords and Sci-Fi inspired lyrics of the best bands of the glam era. This CD is non-stop driving rock and roll. While we arent likely to see another LHOB release, be sure to check out Sims' current project, the Gaza Strippers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rick Sims' Masterpiece, November 3, 2005

This review is from: Blastronaut (Audio CD)
This one slipped under the radar when it came out and it's a shame, because what we have here is the best album of 2005 (heh, better late than never!). Rick Sims of the Didjits created a side project that combines punk rock with glam lyrics and a goth vocal style (Psych Furs/Sisters of Mercy) and wrapped it up into a dazzlingly original rock hybrid that sounds fresher than anything realeased in this year of George Dumbya/iPlod music fascism.
"Blastronaut" recalls the best glam records of the 70's (Mott the Hoople, the Move, Cockney Rebel, Silverhead, etc.) without imitating them at all. The spirit of those records are captured here, and their essence shines through.
Best tracks: Easy Amplification, Rocket 69, Green Like The Color Of Blood, Panic In Hanoi, every track is a gem, just stay away from the pedestrian covers, who needs 'em when your compositions rule. If you ever need a singer for your next project, Rick, give me a call.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best rock album you've never heard, July 17, 2006
This review is from: Blastronaut (Audio CD)
The only thing you can do with this album is listen to it. You'll think about David Bowie, the New York Dolls, the Sex Pistols, and then out of nowhere they'll throw in a surprise hook or catchy bridge that completely disarms you. I don't know why this album isn't in every collection.
