3.0 out of 5 stars An OK Tudor-era romance
_Blaze Wyndham_ tells the story of a young girl growing up in Tudor England. She and her huge family of little sisters have little hope of marriage, since her parents are too poor to dower even one of them, let alone the others. But word of her mother's fecundity has reached widower Edmund Wyndham, whose first wife died in the birth of a stillborn child after fifteen...

Blaze Wyndham, a woman not only strong in heart but also beautiful in spirit. At a very young age she is arranged to marry the wealthy Edward Wyndham. This marriage is not for the sake of love but to produce an heir for his vast estates. Having been told time and time again what her duty will be, she still hopes for love. Marrying by proxy she see her husband only after her arrival at Riversedge. Edward realizes he could take what he wants but is reluctant because he falls in love with Blaze. Blazes only worry is Tony, Edwards cousin, he upsets her in a way she can't understand. All is happy at Riversedge until the untimely death of Edward, her now beloved husband. Blaming his death on Anthony Wyndham, She flee to King Henry's court and discovers a world quit different from what she is used to. Catching the eye of the King holds dangers she has never known. I fell in love with her spirit and the awakening of her soul. I felt part of Blazes family. Her sisters and their husbands began to sound like my relatives. I only hope that soon there will be a story for Delight(Blazes misguided sister). I love this author and recommends the story to all with a romantic heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, August 31, 2003

This was the first book I read by Bertrice Small, I was 16 at the time. Now, nearly 15 years later, I am still a huge fan of hers, and have all the books she has written. This book was so good, it got me 'addicted' to her writing. This book has great historical detail, and is written so well you can visualize the things you are reading about. If you haven't read anything by Bertrice Small, this is a great start. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes historical romance!

Blaze Wyndham is a ravishing beauty who came to the lavish and lustful court of Henry VIII to become the mistress and confidante of the most powerful man in England. Although he demanded her surrender with all the awesome power of his position, the King could not have her love. And when he commanded she marry a man she professed to hate-dashing and rakish Lord Anthony Wyndham-she dared not refuse...yet Blaze's growing passion for the sweet enemy would soon becomer her destiny. Captivating love story. Couldn't put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of Small's Few Outstanding Heroines, November 4, 2002
By
This review is from: Blaze Wyndham (Onyx) (Paperback)
This novel is character driven by the title leading lady. She's a woman of principle and of honor, a woman who really knows how to love and the pain loving can sometimes bring. I like Blaze better than Small's other heroines specifically because she's a simple country woman doing what she has to do and meeting her obligations without hesitation. Blaze finds adventure without becoming a pirate or being abducted into a harem--she's not unlike someone the reader might actually know in real life. Find this one if you can. It's worth the search.

After reading BLAZE WYNDHAM, I sat down to write my first historical novel THE JEWELS OF WARWICK. After seven years and many rewrites, it was finally published by Domhan Books.
I've been fascinated with the Tudor dynasty since I'm a kid, and this book with its feisty heroine gave me the inspiration and motivation to write my own-I've written seven historicals since!
Thank you, Bertrice--you are my heroine and my inspiration!

5.0 out of 5 stars Blaze is the best!, January 28, 1998
This review is from: Blaze Wyndham (Hardcover)
Ah, Blaze, you wise little creature. How many times have my thumbs caressed your satiny pages, my eyes devoured every detail of the body of your work? Heh heh. One of Bertrice's best ever. It's a reader, a re-reader, a charmer. the romance is a little more turned up, the sex a little more played down, the heroine a little more endearing, and it works beautifully.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, September 27, 1999

Blaze Wyndham is Awesome! I Love Bertrice Small, she is one of my very favorite authors. Once in a while, I will get on a different author kick and I will not read a Small book for months, but then I go back and I am always glad I did. Blaze...the perfect name for her. It is always hard to say who is better for the heroine. You love them all. Tony was destined to have her but Edmund made you melt. I am always reminded after reading one of Miss Small's books just exactly why I love her so much. This book is out of print, but definitely worth your search. Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pricy for this particular book., September 2, 2011
I know the Kindle price is set by the publisher but I thought that it should be made aware to everyone that this is too expensive. $17.99?!?! really???? I have this in paperback and I am trying to convert all my paperback to kindle in order to make room on my bookshelves. I'll stick to my paperback until it drops to under $10.

Otherwise, as far as the book itself goes, this is a classic Bertrice Small romance novel. She is an excellent author. The detail and story-telling is fabulous. Blaze is a wonderful character. A must have for any Bertrice Small fan(once it's cheaper of course)! I gave it 5 stars for the story, not the price.

I was amazed to find out that most of the historical things in this book were actually true. It helped me alot in history class. Now if every book that teaches educational stuff was like that we would all be a whole lot smarter. I enjoyed it very much!
