Product Description

The GB2001, Blazer’s original butane refillable micro torch, is a time-tested, gas torch that creates a precise flame emitting from a nozzle head, allowing direct heat application to an object. It is commonly used for detailed purposes such as brazing, plumbing, soldering, jewelry making, culinary, automotive and dental and lab applications.

The GB2001 has a rubber, diamond-shaped, outer body finish, for safe grip and ease of use. It features a gas flow adjustment lever to allow for ease of flame heat and precision change. Its torch flame is adjustable from yellow to more precise and hot blue flame. The torch comes with an attachable, tabletop stand for hands-free work. It offers a long burn time, compared to some other Blazer micro torch products.

The torch houses a piezoelectric ignition system, which is based on a pressurized molecular reaction, and requires no electric connection. Piezoelectric energy occurs when the trigger is activated, releasing a small, spring-loaded internal hammer that strikes a crystal, producing a spark and resulting in gas flame ignition.

With a maximum flame temperature of 2,500 degrees F, the GB2001 has a continuous burn time of approximately 1.5 to 2.0 hours, at maximum fuel volume, and has a 26-gram gas capacity. The torch head has a 90-degree fixed angle, and its flame range is 0.5 to 1.25 inches. It has a safety component that offers manual lock of the ignition, when not in use. It measures 6.0 (l) x 3.0 (w) x 2.5 (d) inches, weighs 6.8 ounces and has a black body finish. This product is intended strictly for use in professional and industrial environments. In accordance with federal regulations, home use of this product is prohibited.

Since 1985, Blazer Products has created an array of professional and industrial tools and equipment. Located in Farmingdale, NY, the company manufactures a variety of micro torches and ultrasonic cleaners. Blazer Products is known worldwide for its original micro torch products.

The GB2001 torch operates with a standard butane canister (sold separately).Recommended to be used with triple refined or higher grade of butane gas.

I have been taking a PMC jewelry class for the past two years, but was always afraid to use a torch to fire my jewelry pieces, that is until my instructor did a demo with her Blazer Micro Torch. I tried it and liked the self-igniting feature and the fact that you did not have to keep pressure on the trigger to keep it running. She suggested that I check on Amazon.com as she had gotten her torch from Amazon. I did and found it to be less expensive and got free shipping also. What a great deal. I have been using it for about one month, and I love it. I have just finished a necklace of fused pure silver links and my Blazer did all the work. I would highly recommend it to my friends.

I have been using this torch in my business for fine silver soldering for many years. Tried several others, but this is the best--and now they have improved the adjustment system for better flame control. I just bought 2 new ones to add to the 3 older ones that are still working after YEARS of use.

I recently started making jewelry in my spare time and this microtorch was the missing link that I needed to melt precious metals.

The 2001 torch is a very good torch as far as torches are concerned. It is a nicely designed device and I quite like nearly every aspect of it, but...

The valve knob broke on mine within a week. I don't use it for heavy-duty intensive thrash-and-bash activities and I am very gentle with all of my things. It's sat on my desk where I have been using it periodically since it arrived and no children or drunk people have gotten hold of it. The torch still turns on, but if you touch the valve knob at all, the gas cuts out. The gas turns back on instantly when you move your finger from the knob, but the fire is out because the fuel supply was interrupted.

I am going to return the 2001 and get a 4001 instead. The 4001 doesn't have a knob-based throttle, but instead uses a toggle-looking throttle. Say that 10 times fast! The toggle appears to function similar to a dimmer switch for a light. The 4001 has a safety to keep the valve from opening on accident, which the 2001 doensn't have and you're supposed to be able to control everything one-handed or two-handed just like the 2001. I'll write a review on the 4001 once I get it. The 4001 is also a few dollars less expensive here on Amazon than the 2001 is.

I said earlier that I quite like nearly every aspect of the 2001. The only parts that I dislike (other than it breaking) have more to do with the throttle. I think that the throttle can easily be left open if you're not careful. I also think that the throttle knob on the 2001 is too much like a hair-trigger. I would like it if the gas valve was more gradual instead of... Well... Imagine that the throttle knob is a clock and "off" is 12:00AM. 12:00AM-12:05AM is nothing.

I bought this torch because I wanted something small to braze jewelry. I wasn't sure when I ordered it if this one would do the job, but the dual-adjustable flame works perfectly for all my soldering needs. It's hot enough to easily fuse sterling silver, and I can solder copper with it also. I haven't overheated a single piece of jewelry since I started using it, and haven't had the need (or want) to use my large torch again. The push button ignition is a wonderful feature, and the time and gas it saves is worth the money in itself. I also love that it comes with a stand. This torch is so much better than the cheaper ones found in hardware stores. In all I am very pleased with this torch and have had no problems with it - I love it!

Good construction and great performance. My torch came with the nozzle a bit crooked but it still works perfectly so I don't care. The flame is easily adjusted from full blast to a kinder more gentler flame and it lights in a flash.

I have owned a Blazer Micro Torch for at least four (4) years. My original torch was damaged while unprotected in my tool pouch recently. I know I could have had my old one repaired, but I chose to replace it.
Since I brought it to work to solder lugs onto 10 gauge wire, one of my co-workers was impressed and since I told him I was going to get one for the company and one for me, he asked that I get him one too.

The micro torch has its place. It definitely works great for heating up the solder lugs and for soldering in remote areas (no electricity). I have even heated shrink tube, however you have to be careful not to apply the flame to the shrink tubing or the insulation on any wires.

I like that I can also control the intensity of the flame. Hey, if I didn't like the first one I bought, I certainly would not have purchased another one.

Recently this product migrated from the workshop into the kitchen where I discovered that it works beautifully for torching your creme brulee to create that crunchy sugar topping. I originally purchased it for use with silver wire in jewelry making (performs wonderfully there too). The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the ignition switch doesn't work first time every time.
