This game is pretty fun, and is kind of a workout, as you actually need to swing the Wii-mote for swordfighting and weapon use. It looks decent, although the DragonballZ games on the Wii look a bit better in my opinion. There are also plenty of unlockables.

My biggest gripe is that the AI is pretty lame. On Hard, the episode mode was exceptionally easy. It was a rarity to get beaten by anyone. Footwork and flash steps seem to turn almost any fight in your favor. Online play would solve this; unfortunately its absent in this title. Arcade mode can present more of a challenge, as some of the unlocked characters are not as powerful as the story mode characters (or their swords don't have as much of a reach). Still though, the average fights are pretty easy.

In summary, the pros are:
- Fun controls
- Decent graphics
- A set of characters fans will know and love

The negatives are:
- No online play
- Lame AI (especially in episode mode)
- Environments are not destructable

As a Japanese launch title, its clear Sega didn't have time to nail down everything; honing the controls was clearly their priority. If they can build off of the great controls, tighten up AI, and introduce online play, then a sequel would be well worth $50.00. For this one, I'd say wait till its on sale for $30 - $40. It's a launch title, and by now should be priced as such.

I traded MK with a friend for bleach. I am a fan of the show I think the game is great. The character's moves are true to the show and the game is made better by playing with the wii remote and numcuck. I have enjoyed unlocking the characters while playing alone and my friends and I have had a great time playing the vs mode. It does take a bit of time to load battles but it is not too bad. The single player is not the main feature and if you are looking for a game to play by yourself I would recommend getting Zelda, Prince of Persia, or Metroid prime. I highly recommend this game for fans of the show and manga or if you are just looking for a good fighting game. : )

3.0 out of 5 stars True to the series, a little lackluster as a fighting game..., October 16, 2007
By
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Bleach: Shattered Blade (Video Game)
Bleach:Shattered Blade is a wonderful homage to the series. The artist and writer worked together with the game makers to create a story line that can be seen as in cannon, and original storylines and 2-D graphics for a few of the characters. The huge array of characters lets you pick one who's fighting style works for you, or maybe just your favorite character. The characters' moves are straight from the show, and even though the game takes place after the Soul Society Arc, a few characters have moves that aren't seen until the Hueco Mundo arc, which is impressive.

However, this game is very short. I was under the impression that there was a story mode for all 30 characters, when there's only story modes for about 7. Everything else you have to unlock through arcade mode.

This game is not as smooth as most modern arcade fighters are. However, with the limited controls for the Wii, that's only to be expected. However, the game does make up for it by incorporating the functions of the Wiimote in nicely.

The graphics are average. There's obviously some kinks, like when hair and accessories drift through people's bodies, and the backgrounds aren't too clean in the cut scenes.

As far as unlockable content goes, there's not much, and you can't really use any of it. It's fun to unlock extra voices to hear characters talk about (or bash) the Wii.

As a fighting game, this game is very average and doesn't really bring a whole lot that's new to the table. But fans of the series will really like it, and it's handy to have around when your friends come over, and Brawl isn't available until next year.

4.0 out of 5 stars My review for "Bleach: Shattered Blade", October 10, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Bleach: Shattered Blade (Video Game)
I'm not much into fighting games, infact the only fighting games I own are this, Blade of Fate and Jump! Ultimate Stars. (Though I've played others that I've liked.) However, I was impatiently waiting for this game when I found out about it. For one, I needed another Wii game and secondly I love Bleach. One thought that occured to me though is of course "are they just using Bleach as a way to make easy sales and will it just be a waste of money?" Thankfully, my fears were wrong.

Graphics: 4/5 Nothing real stunning when compared to other games on other systems, however, for the Wii this was beautifully done. Nice anime look, the cut scenes when going into Bankai look fabulous, but once again, only good considering it's a Wii game.

Sound: 4.5/5 The sound affects are fairly good, I've been hearing complaints from people wishing they could hear them talk in Japanese and it just be dubbed, but really I like hearing it in a languag I speak. The music during the battles is done pretty good also, it goes along with the fighting pretty well.

Gameplay: 4/5 Like I said, I'm not really into fighters, but I'll try to compare it to others best I can. For attacks, you swing your Wii-mote, when preforming a special you hold down the b while swinging and to preform a regular but stronger attack you hold down b and swing. This works pretty well, expecally for me, it makes it easier to get right into than just button mashing. However, Bankai can be a little too easy to get into, when you give/take damage it goes up, and also to charge the meter you just shake your nunchuck, and to get into Bankai you shake your Wii-mote (when the meter's full, of course) although, I suppose it's better than being too hard to pull off. It's still quite fun to do anyways.

Over all I'd give Bleach: Shattered Blade a 4.5. If you're a fan of Bleach this is without a doubt a must have. Also if you're into fighters you might like it too, or at the least you should rent it once to try it out.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Very fun Game!, October 13, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Bleach: Shattered Blade (Video Game)
NOTE: This review assumes that you have an understanding of the common terminology of Bleach.

The game is a direct port of the Japanese game, so they didn't mess with the story of the game or hide any of the characters or powers that haven't been shown here in the anime yet, which is cool. Just remember that this game was a launch title for the Wii in Japan, so there is still a lot of room for improvement in the game play, so your expectations for it shouldn't be too incredibly high. This is a very good game, though, especially for being such an early title.

The storyline of the game is weak, but that's not surprising, fighting games are not known for their storylines usually anyway. You can skip through the storyline cut scenes in story mode, though, and it's nice to be able to get right to the fighting. There is a fair amount of loading, but it works having the little breaks between the fights. The game play is remarkably solid and responsive, although not very complicated. You do need a lot of room to play, either standing up or sitting on the edge of a couch or chair because you have to swing the remote a lot. This game is not about random flailing around with the remote to control the zanpakuto (I haven't tried to play as any of the non-zanpakuto characters yet, so I might have to revise this late

I'm a little disapointed with this game. I mean, don't get me wrong or anything, I love Bleach games. But...this ones kinda a let down. You pretty much move around your arms and if it's even a slight flinch of the Wii remote then your character will move. At first when I got this I thought that I was going to have tones of fun with it...but...I got bored with it in less than a week or two. And, dude, that's sooo not like me. I'd play a fighting game for years and never get tired of it. But while I find Ichigo, Rukia, Ulquiorra, Grimmjow, Byakuya, Gin, and Uryuu's Bankai's awesome,(though Hanataro's attacks only heal the person's damage and his special move isn't really that great at all...still love him though)the rest is sort of skeckty. The story modes are too easy with the same repeated battle ending the Arrancar you see on the cover of the game. He does the same based attacks which over time will start to get annoying. And if you've ever played Bleach: Dark Souls for the Nintendo DS, then the voices and some of the pictures are basically from the game. It was a shame that I remembered the voices and all. But, if you're a new comer to Bleach then you can get this game if you want and give it a try, now if you're already familure with Bleach then don't get it.

All I have to say is that the game will basically give your arms the work out they nedd. lol.

Goods---
1. Lots of characters(BYAKUYA!!!)
2. somewhat awesome Bankai for some characters
3. training mode is fine
4. Nice backgrounds
Bads---
1. Same voices and pictures from Bleach: Dark Souls (DS)
2. Too short of story mode
3. Same battle ending
4. Not enough battle stages for all those characters

If you want to get a good Bleach game that you won't get bored with for awhile then get Bleach Heat the Soul 6 or the whole thing from Heat the Soul 1-6, Bleach Soul Carnival 1 or 2, Bleach Blade Battles 1 or 2, or Bleach The 4th Phantom...(first rp3 for Bleach)

3.0 out of 5 stars Not too good-very easy., November 22, 2007
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Bleach: Shattered Blade (Video Game)
I rented this game for two days. I returned it after one. Why you ask, because within an hour I had mastered it and finished it three times. The game has decent graphics but it is simple to just shake the remote and win. It doesn't take any skill. For a game based on fighting to be sucessful for the Wii it better have the basics down. Either a slanted learning curve with lots of unlockable characters, or a street fighter/mortal kombat/soul calibur/heck any good fighting game type system. This game fails. I am such a big fan of the anime and I am even a member of a website devoted only to this show. This game is a dissapointment. I give it three stars because I was lucky enough not to buy it. Wait until it's under $20.00 if you must own it as part of a collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Bleach console ports; time for another!, January 17, 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Bleach: Shattered Blade (Video Game)
Let me say that, considering Shattered Blade is a few years old now, it's pretty darn good. My only complaint is that, besides Soul Resurrecion for the PS3, it's the ONLY console port of Bleach for the fans to play. This leaves Xbox 360 fans without much to do, which is sad.

That said, the game is very fun, most of the voices and characters are there, and the controls are very good. Fun, a bit of a workout and a great tribute to the Bleach universe. Graphics could stand to be a bit better, but part of that is due to the Wii itself, I think.

It's time for another Bleach game that goes further down the timeline (ex: Through the Hueco Mundo Arc), introduce more intricate gameplay, and more characters and power-ups, like Grimmjow's released form and the top 3 Espada. This game is a good foundation, but unless you have a PS3, this is all you'll get.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Bleach Game, December 6, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bleach: Shattered Blade (Video Game)
Most Bleach games are on the ps2, DS, or the newest one being on PS3, so I had to get this one since I luckily own a Wii. The game was good, but not super amazing. The controls are decent and simple to use. There's alot of unlockables in the game, so it does keep you busy. The episode modes were ok, but kind of reptitive since it was the same thing over and over just with a bit of different dialouge and cutscenes. The game is alot of fun with other people and with your friends. The only real complaint I have is the colors of the game. To me they are very dull and not bright at all, usually anime games have very bright and colorful cell shaded graphics to make it look beautiful, this game didn't have that. Another thing I should mention is the game is in only one language, and that is English. I prefer english since i watch the show in English, but if your the kind of person who hates english dub and all that, think about it before buying the game. cheers!
