Back into the Soul Society,
This review is from: Bleach Uncut Box Set: Season 5 - The Assault (DVD)
The Bounts have finally invaded the Soul Society, and all hell is about to break loose... very, very slowly.
In fact, it takes quite some time for the final leg of the Bount arc to fully unfold in "Bleach Box Set 5," and it ends up being a pretty uneven and sputtery ending. There are some truly brilliant ideas, epic fights and the reappearance of many favorite Soul Reapers... but there are also a number of plot holes and some fights that are just the same ol' same ol'. The Bounts invade the Soul Society at last, and quickly begin staging a rebellion in the forests near the Seireitei; meanwhile, Ichigo and his friends alert the Soul Reapers to the approaching danger and prepare for battle. But being in the Soul Society has given the Bounts a new advantage -- Rukia is quickly defeated, and even powerful captains like Byakuya are having a tough time fighting against Kariya and the other Bounts. But Kariya doesn't just plan to defeat the captains -- he plans to tap into a half-forgotten power sealed within the Seireitei's foundations, and use it to destroy the entire Soul Society. The only person who may be able to help stop him is Ran'Tao, an exiled Soul Reaper scientist who created the Bounts in the first place. But with the clock ticking to doomsday, Ichigo will have to put his life on the line and fight the superpowered Kariya once and for all. As endings go, "Bleach Box Set 5" is kind of lackluster -- there's a lot of frenetic fighting interspersed with long stretches of infodumping/flashbacks. What's more, a number of basic plot holes crop up, such as Soi Fon forgetting her own zanpakuto's power, or Kyoraku and Ukitake (the most powerful battle captains) being assigned to... flip through library books. And the whole "sealing the Jokai Crests" subplot just sort of fades away. The writers also fail miserably at creating any kind of dramatic build-up -- you never get the feeling that anyone actually thinks that Kariya WILL destroy the Soul Society. With only a few hours until doomsday, the Soul Reapers... have a potluck dinner and NAP? Fortunately, the writers did manage to come up with some suitably epic fight scenes, including a bloody desperate fight between a weakened Rukia and a supercharged Yoshino, and creepy mad scientist Mayuri fighting against an arrogant old coot. And there are some funny moments sprinkled through the story ("AAAAAAAAAA... an exploding egg!") to lighten the overall mood, as well as some supercharged Bount powers that make the Soul Reapers' duties a lot harder. Pretty much everybody gets some attention in these episodes -- Byakuya's affection for Rukia, Ichigo's steadfast determination, and the ever-pragmatic Zaraki gets to wipe the floor (both physically and philosophically) with the whiny, hypocritical Ichinose. And an extra episode at the end of the season provides flashbacks of Rukia's first solo assignment, Renji's promotion, and Ichigo's "ordinary" life prior to becoming a Soul Reaper (including comforting a little girl killed in a car crash). "Bleach Box Set 5" is a rather uneven and holey ending to the first filler arc of this anime, but there are enough highlights here to make it still worth watching -- mostly the fights, and the final episode.

This review is from: Bleach Uncut Box Set: Season 5 - The Assault (DVD)
This boxset is the continuation of the Bount story arc and they have invaded the Soul Society to take revenge for unknown reasons; hence the title "The Assault" on the box.
As with the other reviews I've done, Bleach still leaves me wanting more and instead of buying discs separately. I add the boxset months before it comes out to my save it later feature on Amazon, and when it becomes available; might be lower. If you are looking to get any of the Bleach boxsets, Amazon is the place to be to afford. These are like $[...] bucks in the stores and Im getting them for $14 or more off. Still expensive yes, but only place on the net you can get these boxsets for good prices. Plus the series is a good storyline, very rare to find good shows these days. Out of the bleach boxsets, this and The Entry boxsets are so far my favorite seasons because of the direction Ichigo is taking as he is developing his skills and pretty much the fights are bad ass. If Bleach was made into a film, it would be a great film in retrospect to chinese culture films like Fearless and Legend of the Red Dragon, this series has that kind of style in it. Again, if you are an anime fan pick it up. If you are just starting, pick it up but start from the first season or look up story online.

The set shows the final episodes of the Bount Arc Saga as the bounts have entered the spirit world and now begin the assault on the soul society for their past transgressions against the bounts, as the soul reapers fight the bounts their in for more of a struggle than they think as the bounts have not only increased their powers but the spirit world itself is an energy source for the bounts to use. Ichigo an his friends also have come to fight the bounts but also find the answer through an unlikely source of the bounts history and their reasons for hating the soul society as well as the soul societies own dark sin against the bounts as well. The set has all the episodes of the bount saga so don't worry about having to get another box set to see the final episodes of this arc like we had to with the fourth season two part box set. The box set covers episodes 92-109 and as expected the video and audio for the set is clear and sharp no complaints to write about. The extras are the usual with the previous Bleach box sets some production art a couple of trailers and that's a bout it but for the price still worth getting for any anime fan or Bleach fan.

Bleach season 5- the Asault,
This review is from: Bleach Uncut Box Set: Season 5 - The Assault (DVD)
Ok, really, what can you say it's Bleach!!!! This series just keeps getting better and better as it goes on! Story is solid, music is great, mystery and intrigue is everywhere and through out it all Ichigo keeps learning and getting stronger mentally and physically. The moral story line of being true to yourself and protecting that which is most important to you is never failing and you just can't get tired of it like so many other animes that are out there. The fact that Ichigo knows that he is not perfect and is in a constant state of growing along with his friends is so refreshing. My entire family loves this anime series including my 4 yr old granddaughter and 10 yr old grandson. Recommend for all ages especially for the entire family. Watch from episode 1 and enjoy!

Since my family and I love Bleach,, I have nothing negative to say about season five. I did just get season six and five mixed up. We love the information about the bounts. It was just enough to give our curosity what it needed on the orgins but left our imagination wonder about, "what could have happen if?". The action between the soul society, the Reoka, and the bounts left us breathless and at the same time waiting to see what wil happen next. We were heartbroken to see it come to end.

Bleach BS5 - End of Bount SAGA and Beginning of Vizard Ark,

This review is from: Bleach Uncut Box Set: Season 5 - The Assault (DVD)
This box set starts with the entrance of the bounts to the Soul Society and ends with the introduction (just a teaser) of the Vizards.
Here are the episodes included with this set: Disc 1: Episodes 92-95 Disc 2: Episodes 96-99 Disc 3: Episodes 100-104 Disc 4: Episodes 105-109 All of the disc also include the production art (which seems nice) and the last disc also includes an interactive game-like option to see all 13 squads' captains and lieutenants. It gives some outdated information (since the series are a lot ahead now), however it is still nice. Since the bounts story is pretty developed, this box set has lots of fighting and full of action. If you liked the bounts arc, like fillers (bounts is the second best filler, coming after Zanpaktou tales - which has not been translated to English yet -), I strongly recommend you to buy it.
