5.0 out of 5 stars The coolest ever!
I love bleach and I definetly love this cd! Once Again Here We Are and Race are just a few of the songs I love on this cd! They are all great! This is a must for anyone who even remotely likes bleach!

3.0 out of 5 stars Catchy modern pop...
On Bleach's third album, the band comes through with more of the catchy modern pop evident from "Static". Musically, the styles present on each song are not that far from each other, (from upbeat "noise" pop to more laid back acoustic tracks), save for the spunky "Race". The more reflective rocker "Reasons" and rhythmic crooner "You" are included, as well as the radio...

4.0 out of 5 stars bEST yET, December 5, 1999

Bleach continues to evolve musically and lyrically on this, their latest release. The band brings it Christ-centered message close to home with songs like "Heartbeat" (a song about drawing as close as we can to Jesus), and "Reasons." The album keeps that traditional Bleach sound on songs like "Straight Shooter" "Race" and "Once Again..." Check out this CD, and when you get it, listen to "Sun Stands Still." It is the standout track for me...Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not too shabby, January 4, 2000

I really ejoyed this CD, even though the songs tended to be slower than their past excursions. In my humble opinion the best song is "You", because it has honest, simple lyrics about realizing you have strayed from God and wanting to go back to Him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pop metal with a positive message., September 17, 2000
This review is from: Bleach (Audio CD)
At first I was skeptical of this band, but a quick listen to this CD and I was convinced these guys know what they are doing. "Straight Shooter" goes for the jugular with a force that some Christians may need while "Once Again Here We Are" has a nice melodic sound. None of the songs are presented with a harshness that the lyrics can't be understood. After all, it is the words, not the music, that matters. Bleach is honest, CCM, that will leave you wanting more.

On Bleach's third album, the band comes through with more of the catchy modern pop evident from "Static". Musically, the styles present on each song are not that far from each other, (from upbeat "noise" pop to more laid back acoustic tracks), save for the spunky "Race". The more reflective rocker "Reasons" and rhythmic crooner "You" are included, as well as the radio hit "Once Again, Here we are". The best tracks, though, are the first two. Both with yearning themes, ("You're here, I want to feel Your Heartbeat" and "Steer me straight to be the man after Your own heart"), "Heartbeat" has an irresistible chorus melody and a cool guitar solo. "Straight Shooter" benefits from great harmonies and an almost ethereal pre-chorus guitar break. After the disciplined rhythm of "Breathe", however, I lose interest in the album. There are enough worthy features to make the album worth listening to though.

This is definitely Bleach's best album! with grunge-pop songs and straight forward christian lyrics this album is a must to fans of Weezer. It also has a touch of a pumpkins sound to it too.

my favorite song is probably sun stands still or once again here we are

4.0 out of 5 stars BETTER THAN STATIC, January 30, 2000

WOW! ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THIS ALBUM IS BLEACH'S BEST TO DATE. WITH THE ADDITION OF RUSS FOX FROM SEVEN DAY JESUS BLEACH HAS FINALLY FOUND IT'S TRUE LINE-UP. ALTHOUGH THE QUIRKINESS OF STATIC IS GONE THE TONE OF THIS RECORD IS MUCH BETTER. SONGS LIKE "HEARTBEAT","REASONS",AND "SUN STANDS STILL" REALLY SHOW HOW BLEACH HAS CHANGED FOR THE BETTER OVER THE PAST YEAR. I RECOMMEND THIS CD TO ANYONE WHO LOVES ALL OUT ROCK N ROLL WITH THE OCCASIONAL POP TWIST.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slightly different line up, new producer, sans electronics,, March 2, 2003

Ladies and Gentlemen, Bleach has arrived! It's as if the band got together after the first two albums and said "All right, those were fun. How about we tighten up and make a FANTASTIC album?" Well, it worked. Slightly different line up, new producer, sans electronics, and here we are, standing in the presence of greatness.

Watching the band's sound progression over the first two albums (Space in `96, and Static in '99) I was curious as all get out to see what they were going to do with this 3rd release. And in this case, curiosity gets the cat rockin'. New producer Pete Stewart (yes, Grammatrain front man/solo artist guy, that Pete Stewart) definitely had a guitar-laden influence on these guys. Gone are the electronics that had become more prominent in the second release. We now have a solid, mature, well-rounded release sure to pick up some awards on the way.

Any radio DJ wanting to slam the CD in the deck and first-track it on air has it made with the album's opening Heartbeat. The song opens the album up by driving deep both musically and lyrically, conveying an intimacy with God not often found in a power pop hit. Tints of the quirky lyrics from the previous albums show through in the rocking Straight Shooter, but two albums worth of maturity are evident in the meaning behind the message. Once Again Here We Are is a great poppy tune, and while the message behind the music is all about keeping on keeping on, I'll take the track lyrics literally and look forward to the implied promise of future Bleach material. :) The hard and fast Race continues the theme of holding fast to the end without compromise.

The mellower tracks on the album convey a seriousness and depth that shows the band has a firm grasp on what the game's all about. The rolling balled You is a great one-on-one track that conveys a personal message felt only through experience. This experience must have brought a heap of humbleness to turn out All That's Sweet, a mellow lay it all open track. "So here is my offering Just a downbeat and a string But to You it's a beautiful thing".

Things get going again with Reasons, a fast paced look at a life where God is there even when we don't necessarily submit a request. The rolling and rhythmic Breathe, with its distortion and falsetto backing vocals, calls out for new life from the breath of God. Great idea for a Tic Tac commercial...

I was surprised at my reaction to the album, in that my favorite tracks on the album aren't the great fast paced rock tunes, but the painfully relevant and honest slower tracks, including All To You and Good. The tracks hit right to where you're at, without fluff and pretension. Sun Stands Still gets you rocking right before the end of the album, with its melodic verse, guitar hook driven chorus, slight effects on the vocals and crazy 30 seconds of distortion wonder at the end. I love albums that put just the right track at the end, and Bleach's self-titled didn't disappoint. What Will Your Anthem Be makes you stop, look, and listen before crossing any more roads in life.

From start to finish, Bleach has put out an excellent album. Varying in styles but consistent in quality, their self-titled offers a great listen for the ears and the soul.
