Jimmy Eat World made it the hard way and continues to do so: paying their dues, toiling for years outside the mainstream, releasing records on indie labels, building a dedicated fan base through incessant touring and by crafting albums like 1996’s formative STATIC PREVAILS, and 1999’s CLARITY, a pioneering record that resonated immediately with young listeners who wanted (read: needed) a little substance with their rock and roll.

In 2001 Jimmy Eat World released JIMMY EAT WORLD, (originally titled BLEED AMERICAN), featuring the now classic single "The Middle" — the ubiquitous summer smash hit of 2002 propelled the album to multiplatinum status, and years of slogging it out under the radar were finally rewarded with sold out tours, an appearance on Saturday Night Live, an MTV Video Award nomination, invitations to tour with Green Day, Weezer and Blink-182, and critical acclaim on year-end lists from Spin, Rolling Stone, USA Today, Blender and Alternative Press among others.

Bleed American (changed to self titled after the September 11th attacks) is the highest selling album to date for Mesa rockers Jimmy Eat World, and with good reason. This album is chalk full of toe-tapping hits, ranging from emotional ballads to catchy pop rock tunes. The deluxe edition of this album boasts many live versions and b-sides, collecting them all up and placing them neatly in this two disc set. This collection is a must have for any die hard Jimmy Eat World fan. The standouts of the rarities are as follows.

1. Your House - 2007 Studio Version
Simply put, the newly recorded version of this song is amazing. Somehow, Jimmy Eat World took an already exceptional song and made it even better. Filled with more harmony and backing vocals, this new version alone is enough of a reason to purchase this album.

2. No Sensitivity - From The German Pressing Of The Middle Single
A great uptempo tune that has only been available previously as a b side, this song is deserving of its placement on this album and has been a hidden gem for most fans.

3. Last Christmas - From The Limited Edition Better Looking 7-Inch Single
A pretty creative take on the WHAM classic. This is definitely a unique Jimmy Eat World cover that they play every now and then at their live shows during the holiday season.

4. Hear You Me Inner Ear Recording - From The Believe In What You Want DVD
A solid version of an amazing song. For those who have seen the DVD, this is a highly anticipated song to have in MP3 format.

5. The Most Beautiful Things - From The Japanese Good To Go EP
Another solid B-Side that previously was only available via imports.

Jimmy Eat World has put together a great package of songs that really make this a solid purchase for any die hard fan. For those looking to hear more from this alternative quartet, I recommend purchasing the two discs they put out after this album, "Futures" and "Chase This Light," both exceptional pieces of work from extremely talented and passionate musicians.

I didn't need the deluxe edition. The second disc has like original tracks before they were mixed in a studio. If you like that stuff then this is the item for you. its not extra songs just the same ones.

Its J.E.W. - more than a failsafe; its great / intelligent-crafted music
Bleed American - The album name before they went with a more PC title "Jimmy Eat World" (after 9-11 occurred)
A great piece of work from them, may not be the best (my opinion of course, Clarity is best)
I always take on the opportunity to hear the original studio tracks before being modified for label (Applicable towards ANY band)
One can greatly appreciate the first full listen of a song before it went through the minutia critiquing and associated hashwork
and of course sometimes the original work can sound better than final draft
Overall a great album to add on any music collection
