5.0 out of 5 stars most underrated band ever, April 7, 2003
By
This review is from: Bleed the Sky (Audio CD)
When i first heard of this band, i thought they were just another rap metal band like the thousands that you can find out there, but i have to say that i could not have been any more wrong, this cd absolutely blows me away still to this day, they have so many different facets to their music. The cd opens perfectly with Unborn which is equivalent to being hit with a sludgehammer, rolls nicely into What you got, which is the way rap metal should be done. Some other highlights on this cd are Modified Lie, Inside Out, Plastic and Farewell fix, but the whole cd is just amazing, they do not stick to one formula throughout the cd, but they are damn good with every style that they try, be it a very melodic song, a really heavy song or rap metal, they do all very well, i hope on their next cd that drew uses his incredible melodic voice much more, i think this cd will be hard to top, but i have a good feeling that reveille will do so

5.0 out of 5 stars It's pronounced Reh-vill-ee., April 6, 2002

It's not very often that a CD will leave me speechless. However, Reveille's "Bleed the Sky" left me just that after my first listen, and amazingly, it still does months after my initial listen. Whether it is the blistering guitar and bass combo or the blood-curdling screams, this is just a fun CD to listen to.

1. Unborn: Think Limp Bizkit's "Take a Look Around" on steroids. Awesome, awesome song.

2. What You Got: Not exactly a metal song. More of a rap freestyle with supplementary metal music.

3. Look At Me Now: Rap-metal. I don't know what more to say.

4. Modified Lie: Same as the last track.

5. Coming Back: The lyrics are a bit corny. A little more than halfway into the song, the band simply goes all-out.

6. Killing Me: Similar to "Coming Back" in that the first half of the song is decent, while the second half sees the band go absolutely crazy with blistering chords, pulsing drums, and gut-wrenching screams that would make you think the vocalist is going about to explode.

7. Bleed the Sky: Very much like a standard Tool song in that it has a very progressive rock feel to it.

8. Inside Out: Yet another rap-metal assault. I sware, if Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock hadn't tarnished the rap-metal label, these guys would receive so much more respect for the effort they put into each track. Geez.

9. Catarax: a rap-metal + a beautiful guitar solo + apocalyptic screaming.

10. Unborn: Just drums, rapping, and some other really weird noise.

11. Derelict: I love this song. When the vocalist screams, he sounds exactly like Chino Moreno of the Deftones, and there is definitely a punk rock vibe.

12. Plastic: An epic track about the evils of plastic female enhancement. The lead singer of Taproot makes a guest appearance during an odd but strangely soothing country music type interlude.

13. Farewell Fix: Probably my least favorite track. Subdued, mellow.

14. Inside Out (Remix): Not nearly as good as the original Inside Out, but I'm not complaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where did this come from?, November 2, 2004
This review is from: Bleed the Sky (Audio CD)
We are so lucky to experience bands like this, and so unlucky to discover that the bands have already broken up. This CD is a cross between Limp Bizkit, Deftones, and RATM. Don't be scared when a mention Limp, because it is a good thing. The music itself reminds me of an earlt Deftones AKA Around The Fur. That statement right there should make you buy this album. His scream also resembles Chino, and his singing is very RATM/Fred Durst. Buy it now.
