5.0 out of 5 stars Two Hearts Beat As One
I thought "Bleeding Hearts" was an excellent romantic movie. Although, it was sad at the end. It was interesting to see how Lonny and Denise fell for one another. Lonny was thirty years old and Denise was Seventeen and still in high school when they met. Lonny was her tudor, but somehow romance got involved. Her mother definatley did not like the idea of the two...

2.0 out of 5 stars Reverse the Genders in "Jungle Fever"
"Jungle Fever" discussed a relationship with a Black man and white woman; this film dealt with a white man and Black young woman. Actually, the conclusions could be deemed similar, and no that doesn't tell you what happened. I wonder if a college student could write a paper comparing the two.

"Jungle Fever" discussed a relationship with a Black man and white woman; this film dealt with a white man and Black young woman. Actually, the conclusions could be deemed similar, and no that doesn't tell you what happened. I wonder if a college student could write a paper comparing the two.
Remember "Jungle Fever" was not about mix coupling alone; there was also the concern that the main character was practicing adultery. Here, the female lead gets sexually involved before her 18th birthday. This is like the "Golden Girls" episode in which Dorothy's son is involved with an older, Black woman and thus race and age issue get entangled.
I had a white friend once who one day was so proud to tell me how unattractive he found Black men. It's funny having interracial friendships doesn't mean a person would have interracial romances; and vice versa. Remember the "Diff'rent Strokes" episode in which a white male was desperate to be Willis' buddy but had a fit when his white sister wanted to date Willis? This film has a Black best friend who is the most adamant about giving thumbs down to this interracial romance. Again, issues of age get tangled into or could be viewed as the real issue here.
Like many heteropatriarchal films, this film had female nudity, but no direct male nudity. But if you like hairy chests, then you'll love the main character's torso. This film may have been Gregory Hines' directorial debut and this may make his fans miss him one tear more.
Many times the tensions in this film seemed rushed. Some could read it as an indictment of white liberals.

Her mother definatley did not like the idea of the two seeing one another, and his dad though he had losted his mind. I often wonder what happened to Lonny and how did he cope with the death of Denise. He got caught up in a love affair that lead to devastation because of a veneral disease and an unwanted pregnancy which lead to an abortion and Denise's death. His co-worker had warned him that the relationship would end up in terror, but what did Lonny care, he felt that he was in love with Denise or was it lust at first. He seemed to love her and was very upset with her death. All in all, I would recommend this movie to anyone that like interracial romantic movies.
