Don't Be Misinformed,
This review is from: Bleeding Love (MP3 Download)
Alot of people seem to see Leona as the flavor of the month when writing reviews about "Bleeding Love". Don't be misinformed about this girl's talent.
I'm from the United States and about two years ago I was searching YouTube right when the third season of the 'X-Factor' started to air, and that's when I discovered this beautiful girl's singing talents. Like the now defunct Pop Idol (in which ever popular American Idol was based off of), it is a search for the next great singing sensation or sensations. The real difference between the Idol format and this one is that groups are allowed to compete and each category of performers is given their own mentor. Simon Cowell happened to get her. The point of explaining the details of the show is that over the course of many weeks, Leona grew from a shy, timid girl into a superstar that has taken over the world. She isn't something produced to be the latest craze. She's just a girl who got a lucky break for the world to see her talent. As far as Bleeding Love goes, the song was originally for Jesse McCartney's album, but was given to Leona and changed to suit her range. The song (and her Album 'Spirit') will probably remind you of the early 90's sounding mid-tempo pop ballads. She has basically filled the void of the style of music the old Mariah Carey used to sing now that Ms. Carey has moved on to more of the new age R&B-Hip Hop fusion genre. Bleeding Love is a pop ballad for the ages and Leona does the song incredible justice. Don't be fooled into not downloading this song just because a few people think she's just a passing music 'it' girl.

Its an OK song, but it seems like yet another "it" girl situation. She's got a gorgeous voice and they should really push her to do much stronger vocals and not so much of the easy listening stuff. The music market nowadays has a small attention span, and Leona is another pretty face thrown into the mix, but hopefully we'll hear some more good things from her.

Better Than Mariah?,

This is really the biggest surprise of the year thus far. I mean, this girl comes off the American Idol of England, comes to the states, and this song comes out of nowhere building radio play all the way to #1. What's the secret? Apparently America just loves those female R&B Love Song vibes.
Leona Lewis herself has a rather good voice, and carries herself pretty well throughout the song. The song itself is pretty darn standard in the R&B Love Song genre, so it could be sung by Mariah, or any artist in that mold for that matter. No ground is broken, but it is a nice listen, and so far, it has not annoyed me to death, so that's always a positive. So overall, nothing brilliant, nothing new, but Leona Lewis seems to nice enough to be let on my radio dial. And, even though this might be saying much, this song might be better than most of Mariah's work, since her stuff is so overly done, it's pathetic. It's also a nice change of pace that Leona isn't practically begging her lover to touch her body like another certain artist has done. ;)

Wonderful sound, the words are great, very heartfelt, touches the heart and soul, the ultimate in all sound, words, and the beat. Very touching. Great and wonderful. No words can really describe the feeling.

I liked this song just fine at first. But what's the deal with the bassline? I had it playing and I thought I blew my speakers, until I realized it was just the way the song sounded. Now, I can't get it out of my head, and it has ruined my enjoyment of the song.

Lewis' vocal is point on. The hooks are great within this track. I deduct points for the incessant lyrical content. The songwriting is just poor, the vocals are great.
