Long winded, but you get 3 new songs,

I was kind of psyched at first to see that Bleeding Through would release a DVD chronicling the band's history, past to present, but what you really get in a long winded, poorly edited documentary. This documentary was shot by Ryan Downey, who also did the recent Zao dvd, which I ironically, looks exactly like this dvd, but even more long winded. The difference between both DVDs is there is a lot less "...yeah...ummm...that was awesome..." on the Zao disc. It takes a good 30 minutes before they discuss anything pertaining to the band, and 50 minutes into the film before they actually talk about a cd. Not to spoil it for you, but this whole thing plays out like a press kit for their new cd, 'The Truth' which is coming out next year in Jan 06, but it's a 2 hour press kit.
Goodies include a live set from Soma this past summer on the Strhess tour in which they bust out(in no paticular order) Rise, Wake of Orion, Number 7 with a bullet, Love lost in the hail of gunfire, on Wings of Lead, revenge I seek, sweet Vampirous, Our Enemies and 3 new songs(which were if anything, faster than the older material). I could tell you the titles of the new songs, but the audio for live portion wasn't that great. They boast at the start of the show that they didn't try to re-do, re-touch or auto correct any of this show, while we may appreciate thier honesty, it really doesn't help when you are trying to hear certain instruments as the sound was not captured from the board. Other extras include the video for love lost, and deleted scenes. Overall, I'm a pretty big Bleeding through fan, and I wanted a lot more, especially something with better quality. I was pretty dissapointed in the Throwdown dvd, but at least they had some humor in that. A little home video would've helped as well here and there but I guess if you don't bring a camera on the road, you don't capture any moments like that. Doesn't anybody remember how Pantera did their home videos?

Horrible Live Show`,

While I consider Bleeding Through to be a great band, and their studio music is well worth owning, this dvd is not worth the purchase. The documentary about the band is informative and sheds light on the members and how the band was formed, the live material is horrible. At best, it sounds like it came off of a cheap tape recorder held by a fan. I was hoping for something more professionally created. I for one can hope that if they decide to release live footage in the future that they take the time to think of their fans instead of ripping them off with a horrible concert. Also, the information provided on the cover claims there are two music videos when in truth, there is only one.

Boring,

As much as I love Bleeding Through, this DVD came as a big disappointment. The documentary drags on and on. It does have its moments, however, and is fairly informative about the band. My biggest problem with the DVD is the concert material. The production of it was an absolute joke, looking and sounding like a typical ripoff bootleg that you'd find circling the Internet. They even have a preceding introduction to the concert footage saying that there were "NO OVERDUBS, REMIXES, PITCH CORRECTION, AUTO TUNING, or 'CORRECTED' MISTAKES in the following recording. It is raw and it is real." As if giving it that X-TREEEME outlook is supposed to change the fact that the footage looks and sounds like utter sh*t. They also censor the lyrics in their music video; what the hell?! But it's a pretty affordable price, so I'd only recommed it if you want to learn more about this band.

Don't buy this if you are like me and expect to see some live footage! All this dvd is, is the band talking about themselves for two hours. Could have been don in about twenty minutes, but it just drags on. Do yourself a favor and buy "this is live, this is murderous". Then you can actually see the band live.

The product was delivered within the time the company said it would. The product looked brand new when it arrived. My brother loved it!

the dvd is NOT what i expected. i thought it would be a whole live show & the typical band documentary. but "Wolves Among Sheep" is over 100 minutes of all the band members (current & past)telling the story of how the band came to be. the live show from the 2005 Sthress Tour has BD's stand out songs but was filmed on hand held cameras with crappy sound quality and hardly any crowd shots. theres a ton of deleted scenes & random tour clips but kinda suck because its all filmed on regular video cameras...i'm gonna trade my copy of this dvd tomorrow :D

Well...I was really excited for this DVD to be coming out because I assumed it would be an in-depth look into the history of Bleeding Through , which it is to an extent , with tons and tons of footage since the DVD is just about 5 hours long . Anyway , to make a long story short , I was a little curious when I saw it was only $7.00 and after watching it I can see why . The first thing I noticed was the packaging was cheap , it's the same case that they use for some AOL trial disks , and then there was no booklet or anything . The interview itself was somewhat interesting , just a little long-winded . The concert at the Soma was somewhat decent , but the audio sucked major ass , the setlist is as follows...
LOVE LOST IN A HAIL OF GUNFIRE SWEET VAMPIROUS NUMBER SEVEN WITH A BULLET FOR LOVE AND FAILING (NEW SONG) RISE OUR ENEMIES REVENGE I SEEK WAKE OF ORION SHE'S GONE (NEW SONG) INFECTED (NEW SONG) ON WINGS OF LEAD SAVIOR , SAINT , SALVATION It was a really good mix of all of their work , I only wish I would have been able to hear it a little better . I preferred the other tour footage provided though , even though the camera work was obviously done on hand-held cameras the audio was way better . These are the songs in the other section... FOR LOVE AND FAILING (NEW SONG) NUMBER SEVEN WITH A BULLET LOVE LOST IN A HAIL OF GUNFIRE WAKE OF ORION ILL PART 2 JUST ANOTHER PRETTY FACE OUR ENEMIES Overall I was really pleased with that part , but if you're looking for live footage you're better off checking out "This is Live , This is Murderous" , "Hellfest Vol. III" , or "The New England Hardcore & Metal Festival 2003" . The sound is much much better on those disks , as is the video . As for the deleted scenes and the random tour archive...I thought some of the deleted scenes were decent , but most didn't matter , and the tour archive was pretty funny . They also only put one of their music videos on here , they didn't bother to include "On Wings Of Lead" , only "Love Lost In A Hail Of Gunfire" . Overall , I'd only buy this if you really want to know more about Bleeding Through.

It Will Bore Everyone Except Die Hard Fans,

Bleeding Through are an awesome band and their last album was one of my all-time favorites. This DVD is advertised to be 5 hours long, and it is pretty close, but that isn't really a good thing. The documentary is not very entertaining, and not very metal. I guess it's good because it has very personal interviews, but that is all it is. For two hours. And then thier tour footage is like watching grass grow. Or paint dry.
I'm not trying to be a whiny complainer, but the behind the scenes look at Bleeding Through is informative, yet will drive you crazy watching it. The music video for Love Lost In A Hail of Gunfire is really good; weird, but killer. The live set in San Diego is good too, and they did not manipulate the original sound in any way, meaning it's not very good quality. But that's how all hardcore music is. The new songs sound great, even in concert. Definatley hard and fast as the old stuff, if not more. For Love and Failing sounds like it is going to be the popular song on the Truth, released on January 10th. Overall, great band musically, but the DVD has little sense of humor or anything to make it worth the money. Go see Bleeding Through in concert, and that's a million times better way to spend the money than to watch the DVD. They were great at the Warped Tour this year. |
